Advantages: cheap, thick, packaging can be recycled, doesn't tear too easily

Disadvantages: flimsy box, not as clingy as other brands, not for the microwave

Recently I've been trying out alot of Morrisons value range and so far I've been consistently pleasantly surprised. I've tried biscuits, juice, fabric conditioner and a couple of weeks ago got the cling film from this range. It cost me a measly 53p for 60m and is 30cm wide.

When it comes to cling film I'm the queen of disasters, I've never yet managed to open a new box without cutting myself and it's always in exactly the same place too so I obviously don't learn from my mistakes! I wrap it to everything except what I'm aiming for and tear the rolls so I have to pickle them undone and waste film that way and... you get the general idea! This box was no different and I cut my finger on the serrated cutting blade even though it's only made of stiff cardboard!

I wasn't really expecting this to be any good and anticipated going back the following week to buy a more expensive brand film, however again I was pleasantly surprised. The box is the value range bright yellow and to be honest a bit flimsy but I've had branded cling film that came in similar packaging so I wasn't too worried about this, as long as you keep a good grip on the box it's easy enough to roll the film out so not much difference there. The actual film was a surprise though and I'm certain it's thicker than most other brands which makes it less likely to curl back onto itself and stick together or tear and cause problems that way. It sticks to things pretty well, not quite as well as some other brands but well enough to do its job. At 30cm wide it isn't the widest cling film and won't be much good if you regularly cover wide dishes but as I only cook for one person my needs are fairly small dishes so for me that isn't an issue.

It says on the box it isn't suitable to be used in microwaves or conventional ovens but I read this belatedly and had already used it in the microwave with no problems. Obviously children and babies should not be near cling film because of the risk of suffocation and it does caution us there's a sharp cutting blade on the box but again I read this after I'd dripped blood all over the floor! The whole packaging can be recycled once empty as it's all paper and card which again is good news.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with this, it's thick and easy to use and actually causes me less problems than my previous more expensive brand. It's definitely worth a try as long as 30cm is wide enough for your needs and at 53p is miles cheaper than the rest. 4 stars from me, I'm knocking one off for the flimsy box, it not being suitable for microwaves (allegedly) and it not being quite as sticky and clingy as others I've used. It is still a good bargain buy though and could be used alongside other brands just for certain jobs to save money.

Summary: A decent bargain buy
