Advantages: Cleans without having to scrub

Disadvantages: Unpleasant chemical smell

Looking round my local ASDA at the kitchen cleaners I came across the colourful bottle of Mir Muscle Lemon Kitchen and decided to pop it in my trolley and give a try.

According to the label not only is it lemon scented but has anti-bacterial action also - how would you know? I am sure we don't all have a small chemistry lab at home so we can test how much bacteria are lurking on our kitchen surfaces so in this case I am putting my faith in Mr Muscle and his stats.

Opening the nozzle so that the spray can be used is very simple on the actual end of the nozzle is an orange square which can be turned both clockwise and counter clockwise to open or close the spray gun, it is easy to tell which is on and which is off as it tells you on each side which is which. There are two positions for off and two positions for on.

---Using my Mr Muscle---

The spray gun is easy to operate and does not require much effort or large muscles to use. When sprayed on my kitchen surface I have found that this is not like some other cleaners that when sprayed are very foamy but, in fact, the opposite, I can just about see where I have sprayed my Mr Muscle as the surface is wet with a few small air bubbles in the liquid.

----The smell----

Yes it stinks, as with all Mr Muscle products this has a really strong smell that I don't like but hey if it works I can live with it. The smell is predominately bleach but with a sort of chemical aroma lingering as for the lemon, well I don't want to stick my nose to close to it to find out but not immediately noticeable. I would suggest that you use this in a well ventilated room as it is not pleasant and could catch at the back of your throat.

---The power of Mr Muscle---

Now the question is do I leave for a minute to tackle the blackcurrant juice mark on my cream work surfaces or do I see how good Mr Muscle really is. The latter I think as this is true test of the cleaner. Quick wipe over where I have sprayed with the cloth and hey presto it really does have a bit of a kick to it, the blackcurrant mark has gone. Yes it has to be the bleach that does it but I am not going to complain and the sooner all my household tasks are done the better. I would recommend that your wear rubber gloves whislt using this product as it can leave your hands a bit dry if you don't and for some may cause irritation to the skin.

Now what else does the bottle tell me, well the usual warnings exist about keeping out of the reach of children, avoid contact with eyes, seek medical attention but these are no different to any other chemical based product so I will leave them at that.

It also says that this is specially formulated to tackle tough kitchen grease and grime fast and effectively and I will have to agree that it does, with my one bottle I have cleaned all the kitchen surfaces, the hob, wall tiles and given the cupboard doors a once over with it and yes everything came up sparkling. I will say that is supposed to have lemon in it, well I am still searching for anything that resembles a lemon smell on my kitchen surfaces and there seems to be none, a hint of lemon, you will find more of a lemon in a glass of lemonade bought from a supermarket than in this product.

Would I buy it again - yes, it does the job quickly and efficiently without me having to go over the difficult areas a couple of times - how much was it, I paid £1.28 for mine and would say that this is going to last me for a while as I only have to use it once each time I clean the kitchen and not a few times on stubborn marks.

Summary: Good cleaner but pity about the smell

I agree. I cant stand the stuff - that and Mr Muscle Oven cleaner. They really need to improve on the scent: for a company who likes to pride themselves as a "family company," you'd think JSC Johnson would know better.
