Advantages: no scraping, gets rid of grease and dirt.
Disadvantages: The fumes.
I had cooked a pizza and some of the cheese had dripped down between the sheves while it was cooking , what a mess it had made .
I had run out of oven cleaner so off i went to somerfield to have a look for some more .
I paid around 1.30 , you can buy it from most supermarkets.
My muscle caught my eye as its a green tin with an orange lid , and mr muscle oven cleaner loves the jobs you hate wrote in orange letters then oven is wrote in white letters underneath.
It has a picture of a gleaming clean oven underneath , which also caught my eye i wanted my oven to look like that but would it work ?
It also has a warning on the front of the tin , it says powerful cleaning agent and to read the back of tin before you use, this is because its such a powerful cleaning spray you have to be careful to protect yourself and to make sure you only get on where you are supposed to .
~ What to do before you use and how to use ~
The orange lid is very secure so that children won,t be able to get it off , you have to pinch it at both sides then pull it off .
First of all switch off electric or turn off pilot light if gas , then put something down to protect your floor incase of drips from the product, i used an old towel.
Open windows and back door if possible its important as there are a lot of fumes which come off this product .
Keep animals and children out of kitchen while using product.
Wear rubber gloves .
Only use on a cold oven.
Shake can and spray upright , point a the parts you want to cover in your oven hold about 10 inches away .
DO NOT SPRAY ON PILOT LIGHT OR HEATING ELEMENTS,OVEN TRIM OR DOOR SEAL.
Remove your oven racks first , you can either wash them as normal as you could you spray them like i did .
I removed the racks and placed on an old towel to protect the floor and sprayed them, i then sprayed the oven and put the racks back in the oven.
The spray will come out like a white foam , the fumes are strong but the smell itself is not that bad and doesn,t linger around.
When you have finished spaying shut the oven door and leave the product on from 30 minutes for up to two hours.
It states to not leave on overnight.
~ so did it work ~
Well i have to say i was very surprised at the results , i opened the oven door and was greeted with white foam which looked like it had dessolved a bit .
Its best to use a damp cloth to get the spray off, i also removed the racks and rinsed them , they were sparkly clean apart from two stubborn stain spots which when i scrubbed it came off easily .
This bit can get messy so it is best to have old towels and an old wet rag to hand .
Also its a good idea to have an old bucket by the oven so when you are getting the spray off you can put in the bucket, instead of getting it all over the kitchen floor and other surfaces.
The spray is thick and is white but a brown colour , this is all the dirt it has got off .
I wiped all the oven with a damp cloth first to get rid of all the foam , then i wiped twice more witha clean damp sponge just to make sure i,d got it all off .
I was impressed with the results i didn,t have to scrub my oven at all apart from the two spots mentioned on the shelf.
Its now sparkly clean .
Thanks for reading x
Avoid getting it on your skin or in by your eyes .it says if you do wash immediately with plenty of water and seek proffessional help.
Summary: Leaves your oven lovely and clean.

- 21/04/07 I prefer the lazier approach of not cleaning the oven at all. Good review. |

- 20/04/07 Great review. You are right about the fumes because my partner used it for the first time (he has never cleaned the oven before!) and didn't realise how strong it is and i found him on the kitchen floor on all fours almost choking!! It is safe to say that was the first and last time he cleaned the oven xx |
