Advantages: Does what it says on the bottle

Disadvantages: Doesn't last that long. Watch your hands when you're using it.

I love my shower so I do! There's absolutely *NOTHING* to beat a lovely hot shower in the morning to wake you up, refresh you for the day ahead, and generally get rid of any old aches, pains, or stiffness you might be suffering . (Now that I'm getting that wee bit older, you understand!)

I shower first thing in the morning, and often again after a hard day in the office, workshop, or driving my taxi.

About two years ago we eventually got around to re-vamping the old separate bathroom and toilet in our house, which was built way back in 1951. (When I can only assume separate bathrooms and toilets were all the rage!) We knocked the two adjoining rooms into one, and spent a small fortune (about 9,000 Euro!) installing all the luxury items that would make using the bathroom or toilet a really pleasurable experience. One of the luxury items was a power shower and a large walk-in semi-circular glass shower cubicle. It's fantastic, but one of the on-going problems we have experienced is how to keep it in a pristine, clean condition.

The main problem is the gradual build up of water marks and general gunk like soap and shampoo on the glass enclosure. For a while I tried using a squeegee to wipe off the water immediately after you finished your shower. You know the sort of thing I mean; it's the same idea as the squeegee you use for cleaning your windows. This worked up to a point, but a couple of times a week you still ended up having to spend a good half an hour or so washing the glass down thoroughly, and then using a spray-on glass cleaner like Windolene (dreadful stuff) or Mr. Muscle Glass Cleaner (great) to get it sparkling and streak free.

It was a proper pain in the rear end, so it was. That is until I picked up another product from Mr. Muscle in our local supermarket called Mr. Muscle Shower Shine. I was generally kicking my heels while the better half finished her negotiations at the fish counter when I casually picked it up, and being the avid reader that I am (heh, heh) began to peruse the instructions for use on the back of the bottle.

Shower Shine claims to actually *PREVENT* the build up of lime scale, soap scum and grime if you spray it onto the surface immediately after you have used the shower. So no more tedious scrubbing, cleaning and polishing! Not only that but it's suitable for use on most of the surfaces that you'll find in your average shower enclosure, like the glass (obviously), porcelain, tiles, chrome fittings, enamel, acrylics, and plastic shower curtains.

So does it work?
You bet your life it does. A few sprays (well, quite a lot of sprays actually) after you've finished your ablutions, walk away and leave it to do its job, and a short time later your glass and fittings are back in pristine condition. No scrubbing or wiping down is required and it does a superb job on the glass, tiles, etc. About the only thing it isn't quite so effective in cleaning is the chrome fittings. There's no discernible perfume or smell off this product by the way.

There are one or two things to watch out for. Do as the instructions tell you and spray from a distance of about a meter or so, otherwise you simply end up with a concentrated patch of the cleaner on the surface instead of a fine mist over the complete surface. And I'd advise you to wear plastic gloves to protect your wee mitts, otherwise you run the risk of ending up with a nasty rash. (Or worse) Let's face it, if it can keep a manky shower enclosure clean, imagine what it could achieve on sensitive skin!

Another thing I like about this spray on product is that you don't actually have to use it every single day. Every two or three days is quite adequate, which is probably just as well as it takes a fair amount of spraying to fully cover our large shower enclosure. It doesn't mean that you *NEVER* have to resort to a good old-fashioned scrub and general clean, but it does mean you can get away with doing it far less frequently. (About once every three to four weeks)

I buy it in our local supermarket for 2.15 Euros for a 500ml bottle, but as always shop around for the best price.

I've learnt the word 'squeegee' from this op, I'd never seen it before. So your op is VU for me.
