Advantages: Great clean smell
Disadvantages: Can't thnk of any
Drum roll, round of applause, Mexican wave...whatever takes your fancy...the loft conversion is finally completed and I can clean. Pure joy!!
Poor Santa is going to choke on the dust when he comes down our chimney.
Bring in the mighty Mr. Sheen. Over the years, I have tried a number of furniture polishes, the good, the bad and the downright ugly, but this is my all time favourite, and apart from the yellow rag I call a duster, nothing can come between me and this little marvel.
I am not, I hasten to add, addicted to cleaning, and I don't think one furniture polish does a "better" job than another, I just like the smell!!
WHAT IT PROMISES
It promises to clean and shine multi surfaces and states that it has a long lasting fragrance. It aslo states that it has unique dustguard and Stainguard properties, and whilst these terms mean nothing to me, I am willing to go with them.
THE PACKAGING
I think we have all seen Mr. Sheen gracing the shelves-red can with pull off lid to reveal the spray thing. Mr Sheen himself is flying along on hios yellow duster beneath a silver sparkle stripe, wearing his flying jacket with his goggles pushed on top of his head. He sports a rather dapper handle bar moustache and holds aloft a duster as he "flies". I would LOVE to know where these marketing ideas come from!
WHAT IT DOES
So there I am with my little red can. All I have to do is shake the can thoroughly, hold the can upright and spray at a distance of about 9" (23cm) from the surface. then, get a soft cloth (hence the yellow duster), and polish to a shine. I can use it on wood, glass, plastic, steel,, mirrors, tv screens, paintwork, tiles and enamel and it will rid my home of dust, dirt and fingerprints! It will also cleanse my surfaces of wax, ketchup and mustard. Excellent...off I go.
DO NOT USE IT ON:
Unsealed or waxed wooden surfaces
Get advise before using it on antiques (from where it doesn't advise you)
Floors (probably too slippy)
Baths
Shower trays
CAUTIONARY TALE (there is always one of these)
Use only as directed
POressurised container
Protect from sunlight and temperatures above 50 degrees C (not a problem)
Do not place near hot surfaces or fireplaces
Do not pierce
Do not spray onto a naked flame or an electric fire
Keep out of reach of children
Solvent abuse can kill instantly
DOES IT WORK?
I took note of all the cautions and wafted round the house with my yellow cloth and red can, and, as a polisher, yes it does work. It certainly wipes away all those smears and my house looks dust free. Best of all, as I mentioned earlier, it smells clean. This polish has a real "just cleaned" smell. It may not last longer than other products but just after it's been cleaned, the house has a smell of...furniture polish. I like itand at some time will try the other fragrances, but being a creature of habit, will stick to this while the going's tough.

- 29/12/05 A belated welcome to Dooyoo as you are already on your fourth review. You might want to only publish a couple of reviews a day otherwise people will think you are just churning and you will not get as many reads. Also spending time reading and rating others will get more reads for your own work. Enjoy. |
