“ Manufacturer: Cassandra / Type: Hot Water Bottle „
I think having a hot bottle in any home is pretty much an essential item to own. Living alone sometimes I get cold in bed and have no one one to heat my feet up on and when I'm ill in bed I find them a comfort. Course though when buying hot water bottle you need a decent quality one as leaks and splits and the likes within them is not a good thing at all!
I came across this hot water bottle in various colours from Amazon.com and I paid £3.95 for a light pink one a few months back now and use it often.
The hot water bottle itself is what I think of as standard size and they are made from thick rubber. You are meant to fill up the hot water bottle to 2/3rds of its capacity with hot but not boiling water and the bottle itself is a square shape with just the words Cassandra engraved into it each side of it and the bit that you fill to the top if it is a largish hole with a white plastic screw on/off cap which is large and easy to manipulate.
The bottle is smooth and plain and I simply already owned a hot water bottle cover and I always use mine to stop myself getting burnt or scolding myself and as long as I screw in the cap to the top of it well enough I have had no issues with this......apart from that being made of rubber it does smell at bit rubbery but with regular use I got mostly rid of that smell.
This holds the heat from water well and very safely indeed and I like the size and quality of it so for that reason it really does get the thumbs up from me for helping to keep my tootsies warm!
Google for this if interested.
Ever since I can remember my mum used to put a hot water bottle in my bed before I went to bed so that it was nice and warm when I got in. It was natural that when I moved out I would buy one of my own and I chose a nice pink one from Amazon and it cost £4.25 which I think is reasonable. You can also buy them from markets and places like that, and they are probably cheaper there. I also have one in a cover which is a small one that I got with a gift set and I allow my son to use this.
When you fill the hot water bottle there are a few things to note. Firstly you should always be very careful as you are dealing with boiling hot water-you could let the water cool down somewhat before pouring it into the hot water bottle but if like me you are quite impatient and don't wait for it to cool down a lot you need to be very careful when you pour the water in as if you pour it too fast it is likely to bubble back up and splurt out over your hands. You should always only fill the water bottle until it is around 2/3 full to avoid major spillages.
When you are filling the water bottle you should hold the bottle by the neck as you pour the water in. Once you have filled the bottle to the desired level you should screw the top back on. A useful tip to note is just before you fully secure the lid you can squeeze some of the air out of the bottle so it doesn't expand majorly. Once I have tightened the lid on the bottle I always make sure that I give it a good shake to make sure it isn't leaking.
I have never had any nasty accidents with hot water bottles but obviously you are dealing with very hot water and as such it could cause scalding should any accidents happen. The worst that has happened to me is that is has leaked overnight leaving you feeling like you have wet the bed!
I think hot water bottles are wonderful. When I am feeling warm at night I feel more relaxed and genuinely believe that these help me to relax and drift off to sleep. However there are other uses for hot water bottles too. I suffer from a bad back quite regularly-some of this is posture related and some is actual back issues. I find that propping myself up in bed with the hot water bottle behind me can really help the pain as the heat relaxes my muscles. Hot water bottles are also great for period pains when placed on your tummy. You can also wrap the hot water bottle in a blanket or towel for a less intense heat.
So far I have had this hot water bottle for over twelve months and it has been great so I would certainly recommend them!
