Advantages: Eliminates doggy' odours and makes the room smell fresh.

Disadvantages: The dogs aren't impressed - tough!

In my house I have 2 dogs (sometimes up to 4 dogs - but that's another story) and carpet in the lounge, the stairs and the landing. My lounge also leads straight from the front door so, as you can imagine, it experiences heavy traffic with 2 adults and several dogs coming and going. I love my dogs but not to the point where I want everywhere to smell doggy - and this is where Neutradol Carpet Freshener comes in.

Over the years I have tried many ways of making my house smell fresh with varying degrees of success but I really hit the spot when I found this product. I have tried the other brands of carpet freshener and they were ok but this one is number 1 in my book.

Product
This product is a fine white powder with a flowery smell which is quite strong at first but settles after a few minutes but doesn't disappear altogether. When you shake it over the carpet it sits on the pile and, being white, you're able to see it so it makes it easier for vacuuming. If I have the time I like to put it on the night before and vacuum the next day but I also find it effective if you put it on and vacuum a few minutes later.

Packaging
It usually comes in a 350g cylindrical container but, at present, I have the one on special offer which has 50% free so the container is actually 525g. The outside is a bright green cover with 'Neutradol' highlighted in a blue banner and 'Carpet Odour Destroyer' in a red banner. The back is white with green writing. At the top is a white lid with a small flip lid which opens to allow you to sprinkle the powder on the carpet.

After using this product and vacuuming the room is left with a fresh scent which lasts for hours. When the scent fades, however, the odours in the room have been eliminated. The product can also be used in waste bins and I use it in the kitchen bin and it works to make that smell fresher too.

The only downside I have found with this product is that I have found it more difficult to get hold of recently as the supermarkets in my area don't stock it and the stuff they do have is not as good. The good news, however, is that several of the 'pound' shops stock it for £1, although I have got it on offer in recent months for 2 for £1 - excellent!

One thing to be aware of is that the smell is quite strong initially so if you suffer with asthma or allergies it may not be for you. In that case just try a small amount and see how you get on. I have quite bad asthma and allergies but I'm fine with it but that doesn't mean it's the same for everyone.

Summary: Excellent cost effective product that does what it says.
