Advantages: Lovely smell

Disadvantages: Doesn't actually clean, limited use.

I dislike housework......I really really do. But what I DO like, is a tidy house (shame I don't have that very often) and every polishable surface polished. I like the finishing touches that clean mirrors and polished shelves and sills make, and after slogging away at trying to make my house look something approaching acceptable, I thoroughly enjoy getting the dusters and the polishes, and heading for the nearest available cleared space.

Of course, throughout the house, surfaces are made of different things, and have different finishes, some manmade, some natural, some treated and some not treated, so it therefore makes sense to need more than one product in order to get the best finish on your furniture. Many products claim to be "multi surface" and these will do the job in a reasonable manner, but for real wood, I like to use something a bit more specialist without spending a fortune (partly because I am always on a budget, partly because my furniture is not exactly Chippendale!).

Enter my 500ml trigger spray bottle of Orange Glo......!

Most furniture polish comes in an aerosol spray can, but Orange Glo comes in a plastic bottle with a trigger spray dispenser, much like kitchen cleaners, and glass cleaners. My bottle does not have an "on/off" twisty end to the trigger, so it is therefore always "sprayable" and you should therefore be careful if you have little ones around, as there is nothing to stop your Orange Glo being sprayed everywhere by a little one! (It is sometime since I bought my bottle, so they may have changed the design by now.....)

The bottle is clear, so you can see just how much of your product is left....thereby never being encouraged to buy a new bottle when the old one is still actually half full - you can see exactly how much you have used!

The polish itself is, surprise surprise, orange. Orange Glo is made with pure orange oil, and this is really apparent from the first whiff of this polish. It smells of real oranges, not artificial "air freshener" oranges.

Orange Glo say on the bottle that this is suitable for furniture, panelling and cabinets, and that it is fine for use where there is dust, dirt, grease, grime and wax buildup. I certainly use this on my real wood furniture, some of which is modern, some is 100 years old, and it definitely works beautifully. You simply spray, leave for 30 seconds, and wipe off the excess, leaving a wonderful finish, and a beautiful smell in your room.

This is an oily spray - you would expect as much with it containing orange oil, the spray soaks into the wood and "feeds" it, giving it a bit of life.

I use it on wood that has not been painted, or highly varnished.....for all painted surfaces, I stick to Mr Sheen, or Pledge.

Do not use Orange Glo on floors - it can be very slippery, and that can be very dangerous, and do not use it on glass - you will just get a whole load of smears (although your TV will smell nice!!).

Despite the claim that this "cleans", I do not find it to be a great cleaner. I therefore prefer to wipe marks with a cloth and a little washing up liquid in warm water......then using the Orange Glo for the finishing touches.

A bottle lasts for ages (and not just because I do my housework so rarely!) but I will definitely buy it again when it runs out!

Summary: a nice addition to the cleaning cupboard, but not essential!

It is quite oily so I find dust leaps back on very quickly after this one

I've never seen this before - but I like the sound of it - the smell alone has to beat beeswax polish :-)

Have you come across the fridge magnet that says: "You can touch the dust but please don't write in it?" It was written for people like us who can think of better things to do than housework
