Advantages: Works to be honest
Disadvantages: Too wet, no lasting aroma
When it comes to air fresheners in my house we get through loads of them. Once, on here someone pointed out that you can't beat opening windows for freshness. I agree but sadly not when you smoke. I smoke in my bedroom of all places! Ok I admit I lean out of my window as far as I can without crashing through the conservatory roof but at 4am I don't much fancy unlocking my house up and going out in the freezing world! Which means I do feel I need to use a decent air freshener just to rally make sure no odours are left behind to give away my filthy habit as I live with none smokers and they hate the smell of fags with a passion and detect even a hint of a faggy aroma!
The Packaging....
300ml white can with a bright pink plastic integrated button to the top. On the front of the can there is a drawn on picture of a field with pink flowers on it, under that in bright pink and dark blue writing I'm told it's Oust 'Odour Eliminator' which 'Eliminates odours without masking'. Then there is a a small drawing of pink flowers on the right hand side and under that I'm told the fragrance is 'Garden Fresh', and that it is a Johnson product. On the back (all in dark blue writing) I'm told a little information about the product itself, directions for use and warnings are given, lots of information is given in foreign languages, size and the recycle symbol are displayed, I'm reminded solvent abuse can kill instantly, the flammable symbol is displayed and finally there is a bar-code on there. Nice enough, attractive packaging that doesn't look cheap at all!
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Can....
Oust Odour Eliminator - eliminates odours without just masking. It's special formula neutralises odour molecules in the air, such as pet, bathroom, smoke and musty/ mildew odours, leaving your home smelling clean and fresh.
Using It....
Well it's a pain to flipping use it! It sprays out what appears to be a white mist that you can see and appears thick. That's fine. However it's wet and you get droplets on you, your wooden floors and I've even felt it settle sticky on my carpets and have some marks from it where dirt has collected into the moisture. Also if you direct it into corners of rooms it sprays liquid on to ceilings and walls and the other day while cleaning my room I had to get ladders out to wipe 'drips' off my wall that looked like sticky brown patches with a film of grease on them. I come to the conclusion it's this products fault after having the same marks on my windows and mirrors and I've only been using this air-freshener lately. I don't like it for this reason it's far too wet and horrid and fussy to use.
Smell wise it has a flowery gardeny, sweet slightly floral smell. Pleasant enough once that smell settles down but when you first spray it it hits the back of your throat ever so harshly and takes your breath away. Once sprayed the aroma does seem to 'eat up' nasty odours whether it be (smoke in my case) and I have used it in the house after cooking fish etc and we do have a dog and again it works really well with all that. However as the fragrance does absorb unfresh odours the smell of the spray vanishes no matter how much you spray into the room. I find that I can smell this for about 5 minutes, go back into the room and smell nothing but thankfully the nasty niffs have vanished into thin air.
However...
I can't use it. It's far too wet and I don't like dribbles of moisture on my walls turning into dark brown looking drips. I don't like sticky residue on my floors and even worse.... I hate it when it gets on me though to be fair it doesn't seem to irritate my skin I just don't want to smell of air freshener instead of my usual Chanel thank you very much!
It does work to be fair to it though no lasting fresh aroma and mess is disappointing to me, I'll be looking for something more suitable. My Mother actually binned her can when it smeared all over her mirrors and mine joined hers 3/4 of the way through!
Can be found in all good supermarkets and I paid £1.75 for my can in Sainsbury's.
Summary: I wouldn't buy it again
