Alright, I admit it. My kettle's a state. It's about a year (!) since I last descaled it and both exterior and interior are crusted with nasty, chalky limescale. The time has come to test some descaling products! Packaging Oust Descaler consists of a small box containing three 25ml plastic sachets of liquid, costing around £1.50 for the lot. I was recommend this product by a family member when we moved into a very hard water area. I was forever trying to clean the inside of my kettle but without any real luck. I finally found this product in our local Wilkinsons store and was very suprised when it was only £1.79 for the packet. Not really taking much notice of the packet until I got home i was further suprised when I found it contained 3 sachets. The packet which I now have states that it now removes 20% more limescale which seems good to me. I live and work in an area of exceptionally hard water. So much so, that, if I was trying to make you understand the hardness I would say it was like concrete, if you see what I mean. We had a water softener fitted to our hot water pipes, that lead in and out of our boiler, and we have used a water filter jug for years for our drinking water. Despite the fact that the filtered water tastes much better, and is less limey, it still does leave more lime-scale in our kettle than is I would like. I live on cups of tea - several every day, as well as regularly boiling my kettle for water to cook in . As I live in a pretty hard water area, this done mean that it tends to get scaled up . Now, I'm not the best at keeping my kettle free of scale, and I only tend to notice when bits pop off into my tea - not tasty! I am very OCD in personality, everything has to be clean - inside and out - and my appliances are no exception, even the poor kettle doesn't escape my fanatical attention!
