Advantages: Very easy to use

Disadvantages: Only comes with one large bag to clean shelves.

Earlier in the year I increased my working hours and my husband and I agreed that I should get a cleaner. I hate house work at the best of times and despite my mum telling me that I'd hate having one, (she said I'd hate having to tidy up so the cleaner could clean!), we employed a cleaner for 2 and a half hours a week.

When this lovely lady came round to 'check us out' and see if she could work for us she asked if I would be expecting her to clean the cooker. Well, I was so embarrassed by what I knew to be the state of the inside of my oven, that I said - "oh no I'll do that!" Our meeting went well, hours were agreed upon and a list of preferred cleaning products were given to me.

I went off to the super market, light headed with the thought that I would never have to do any cleaning again ?!? As I browsed the shelves I suddenly remembered that I said I would clean my oven. There was no way a stranger was going to open the door and see the dreadful state it was in. So I began scouring the shelves for a miracle product that required minimum effort, not too much toxic smell and fantastic results. As I glanced along the shelves I saw a new product OVEN PRIDE. The box contains the warning - CAUTION, THIS PRODUCT ACTUALLY WORKS! TRY ME AND SEE!

I glanced at the other claims on the box, scanned the directions for use and decided to give it a try. The most attractive thing about this product is the bag into which you put you oven shelves or BBQ rack. I hate trying to scrub these large items in a small sink. The floor usually gets covered in blackened water as does the washer upper!

Contents:
A large polythene bag
1 500ml bottle of cleaning fluid ( contains 12% sodium hydroxide / 5% Amphoteric Surfactants)

It's so easy to use.

The oven

* Wear rubber gloves
* Shake bottle.
* Pour cleaner directly into the oven, use a sponge to and apply cleaner to areas to be cleaned
* Leave for at least four hours - overnight is best.
* Remove residue with a cloth and rinse thoroughly with hot, soapy water.

The Shelves (this is the really easy bit)

* Put your shelf or BBQ rack in the cleaning bag.
* Pour in the cleaning fluid, seal and leave to soak.
* Rinse with hot soapy water.

Does it work?

YES! I was amazed. Although this process isn't quick - I left mine over night, after all I wanted to impress my new cleaner - the results were excellent. The shelves from the oven really looked like new. There was no dirt on them at all. Rinsing the oven out was quite messy (probably due to the fact that it was incredibly filthy), but again I was very pleased with the finished result. The odour of the cleaner was evident but it didn't knock you out or make your eyes water.

The product cost just under £4 (you can get in most supermarkets). It comes in a very tasteful (?) orange box, with OVEN PRIDE written in large bubble writing. The 500ml bottle of cleaning fluid is enough to clean your oven a couple of times. The only downside as far as I can see is that it only comes with one large bag. I didn't like to reuse this as the bag obviously was full of nasty, dirty liquid after cleaning the shelves, so I threw it away after one use.

Hopefully the cleaner noticed I had made an effort with my oven. I just need to remember to clean it again soon, before she spots all is not as it should be behind the cooker door.

I will buy this product again - it did what it said on the box!
