Advantages: Ease of use, minimal elbow grease!

Disadvantages: Nearly burnt my arms off!

Having enjoyed foods that spat fat all over my oven too much and enjoyed cleaning up the mess too little over the course of about six months (yes I do realise how disgusting I have been!) I finally decided it was time to pull out the marigolds and sort out the fat trap that had become my oven. I had tried a couple of canned products that had made the outer glass sparkle like nobody's business but didn't even begin to touch the grease and grime on the inner walls and shelves - and don't get me started on the grill pan!

A friend recommended Oven Pride as it required minimum effort (I'm sure you have noted by now that Mr Muscle is not my middle name). I found it slightly more expensive than some of the other oven cleaners in the supermarket (about £5) but given the extras that it comes with this is justified. It comes with a large sealable plastic bag, bottle of cleaning chemical and a pair of latex gloves.

I had to place the shelves and grill pan into the bag, coat with the chemical and seal shut. The only effort then was to shake the bags about a bit, gently sponge the chemical onto the inside of the oven and leave for a few hours.

I came back to the oven fully expecting a couple of hours of scrubbing, but could not believe how easily the chemicals wiped away, leaving a really clean oven underneath. It literally looked like new! The shelves I was definitely not looking forward to cleaning, but they also wiped clean with little effort.

The grill pan was a little more difficult and needed a second go in the bag with a bit of scrubbing after, but given the length of time since its last clean, this was hardly suprising!

The only downside of this product is the reason that they supply the gloves - the stuff is seriously corrosive! It ran down my arms while I was cleaning and took the skin away. I had a rash for a couple of days on both my wrists and it was quite painful. Still, no pain no gain!

24 hours later and I was able to invite my parents round for Sunday lunch with absolutely no comment about my grease trap of an oven!

Summary: Fantastic product, second to none.
