I bought the Oxo Good Grips Y Peeler after having various frustrating incidences whilst peeling both potatoes and carrots. I had just about had enough when I saw this product advertised. Peeling vegetables is very boring so anything that made the process quicker and easier got my approval. I immediately ordered it and have not looked back since.

The Oxo Good Grips Y Peeler is called so because of its Y shape. It has a sharp, long-lasting stainless steel blade that is fixed from one end of the Y to the other. It has a longer blade for better manoeuvring and it slides through vegetable and fruit skin easily to make preparing food easier. The handle of this peeler is rubber, comfortable and non-slip. This peeler also has a sharp eyer which easily removes blemishes.

*My Opinion*

The handle: The peeler is extremely easy to grip and comfortable to use because of its rubber handle. I really like the comfortable non-slip, grooved grip as it helps you significantly especially when you have wet hands and therefore doesn't cause you to have and accidents whilst using it. Its handle is wide which is fantastic for when you have a lot of potatoes or carrots to peel as it doesn't make your hand ache too much.

Does it live up to its claim of making peeling a pleasure? I wouldn't go so far as to say that it makes peeling a pleasure but it certainly takes away that feeling of it being a chore. I know don't mind if I am asked to peel the potatoes or carrots for a roast dinner as I know that it won't take me a great deal of time and I won't be losing any of my nails!

This is unquestionably the best peeler that I have used. It is easy to use and almost no effort is required as the blade glides easily over the fruit/vegetable that you are peeling. For any parents that want to get their children to help out in the kitchen with the preparation of food, I recommend buying one of these cool little gadgets. They might not be begging to help but it will certainly be easier to get them to help out than with a standard peeler or a knife.

One of the uses that I have found for Oxo Good Grips Y Peeler is to peel apples. I love apples but I can't bear the skin. This peeler allows me to enjoy them without taking a long time to prepare it before eating now. I actually bought an additional peeler to have in my desk at work so that I can peel an apple quickly and enjoy it. I thought this was a strange use of the peeler but I have read a review of this item and there are others that use it for this reason as well.

Oxo Good Grips Y Peeler is dishwasher safe which is great in our house as we will only wash up what can't go in the dishwasher! And you can put it in there without rinsing it first and all traces of the vegetable or fruit that you have peeled will be removed.

If and when you feel you need to replace the blade, you can buy these separately although I have had this peeler for over 2 years now and the blade seems as shape as ever and had no problem peeling the skin off of any fruits or vegetables.

*Would I Recommend This Product?*

Oxo Good Grips Y Peeler is a product that I strongly recommend. If you don't have one sat it your kitchen draw, I urge you to buy one. I used to go well out of my way to avoid peeling vegetables but the task is made 100 times easier when you use Oxo Good Grips Y Peeler.

The design of this peeler is fantastic and durable and the handle is non slip which means no more accidents whilst peeling. These qualities lead to me suggesting this is a must buy product that should be in every kitchen.

*Overall*

I do not know how I would go back to life before this peeler. It saves you time (in food preparation), money (in wastage of food that you over peel) and energy (as it is so easy to use). It truly is amazing. When my mum used to ask me to peel the carrots or potatoes when it came to having our Sunday roast, I used to dread it. I was always cutting myself in one way or another and I would go out of my way to avoid being asked. I also found that I would cut away half of the potato. Oxo Good Grips Y Peeler is probably one of the best things that I have bought that is complete value for money.
