I recently attended what my friend described as a "candle party". I like to burn fragranced candles so decided to give it a go even though I was completely unfamiliar with the company selling the products - Party Lite.

~~Party Lite~~

You can only buy Party Lite products at parties - they run the same formula that Anne Summers and Tupperware have used for so long. I generally dislike these parties as I feel duty bound to buy something that is generally over-priced and unwanted purely because I am friends with the hostess but I felt pretty certain I would find something I fancied at a candle party.

Being something of a Party Lite virgin I was surprised at the level of knowledge my fellow party goers had of the company. The representative gave a lengthy spiel on the products on offer and I have to say there were some absolutely gorgeous candle holders and accessories on offer but some of the prices were, I felt, just too high to consider.

One of the products which caught my eye however was the Infinite Reflections Fragrance Warmer. As someone who had never had such a product before I decided to buy it, along with some Aroma Melts, which are Party Lite's version of Yankee Candle's famous wax tarts.

~~The Product~~

I decided to buy the Infinite Reflections Fragrance Warmer purely because I liked the look of it. When you originally take the product from the box you are met with two pieces of glass. The first piece is a rectangular block which is open on top and on two sides. On the base of this block is a holder for a tea light. The second piece of glass is a small glass bowl which sits on top of the glass block and is your burner.

You can burn scented oils in this as well as candle melts.

~~My Thoughts~~

I paid £24.50 for this burner, which I appreciate is quite expensive. What caught my eye was the design of the burner, with the glass "walls" of the burner designed in such a way to give the impression there are a limitless number of tea lights sitting on the bottom melting the wax in the bowl above. There is something I find incredibly relaxing about this image and my only caveat is it's probably best to position this so it's at eye level to really appreciate the illusion the holder provides - a mantelpiece being the ideal location for it.

I also think that perhaps it might work a little more efficiently at melting the wax or warming the oil in the bowl if the tealight were to be positioned a little higher up on the block as it can take a good 20 minutes or more to melt the wax in the dish and release the aroma.

The burner is very easy to maintain and clean - certainly I really like how the little bowl sits on top of the block and can just be lifted off to wash. The block does attract dust due to it being made of glass but a quick wipe down with a duster does the trick there. To remove the spent wax in the bowl I just place it in the freezer for about 20 minutes and then find the wax comes out easily and in one piece with the prod of a knife.

I have been rather pleased with this purchase as I find it a straightforward design which is easy to clean and yet looks sleek and unobtrusive when sitting on my sideboard. One of the reasons it's taken me so long to buy a burner is the fact I quite simply haven't come across a design I particularly liked so while this is expensive, I like it so for that reason alone I feel it's money well spent.

I wish I could be as positive about Party Lite's Aroma Melts, which I also purchased at the party, having found them to be a bit on the insipid side in comparison to Yankee Candle wax tarts. So many of the Party Lite aficionados at the party I attended were disparaging about Yankee products but I have to say thus far while I am no fan of their burners, their actual candle products have impressed me more.

So if you find yourself at a Party Lite event my advice to you would be to check out their range of burners and candle holders over the actual candle products themselves - and certainly if you are looking for a burner which has the added advantage of looking lovely and being a bit of a conversation piece, the Infinite Reflections Fragrance Warmer fits the bill.
