Advantages: Gives a long lasting fragrance and looks great
Disadvantages: Quite expensive only available through a PartyLite Consultant
After hosting my PartyLite Candle Party (please see my previous review) I had over £50 of credit to spend on their huge and very tempting range of products. It took me quite a while to decide because they have so many lovely products. One of the products I chose was a reed diffuser.
==A Bit About The PartyLite Reed Diffusers==
PartyLite have a choice of 5 different styles of diffuser, a mini one holding 74ml of fragranced oil, the standard sized one holding 147ml of oil, the Tri-Glow reed diffuser, which is the same as the standard one but has 3 different coloured layers of fragranced oil, the Wellbeing diffuser holding 163ml of oil and the Fresh Home diffuser, which again holds 147ml of fragranced oil.
The standard, mini and Tri-Glow diffusers all come in good strong glass bottle, which from the front is round and side on is thin and narrow. The Wellbeing diffuser again is in a strong glass bottle, which this time, is teardrop shaped, being quite rounded at the bottom narrowing sleekly towards the top. The Fresh Home diffuser is a square and dumpy strong glass bottle with a narrow neck.
If you order the standard, mini or Tri-Glow range your diffuser comes with the oil already in it and a screw top lid. With your diffuser you get a wooden cowl, which you place around the neck of the bottle once you have taken off the lid and you get 12 reeds, which you place in the oil. The wooden cowls are quite decorative, some are just plain, either being in a dark or light wood, whilst others may have an animal print on them, it all depends on which one you choose. The 12 reeds you get with your diffuser remind me slightly of wooden skewers, on the whole they are plain but again, depending on what diffuser you decide to choose, some of them also come with decorative reeds too, twigs, bamboo and decorated reeds. All looking very stunning.
The Wellbeing and Home Fresh Diffusers don't come with the wooden cowl, with the shapes of their bottles being slightly more decorative and they are supplied with the 12 plain reeds.
There are 10 different fragrances to choose from and 6 different fragrances in the Tri-Glow range. Refills can be bought for the 10 standard fragrances but the Tri-Glow range does not have refills available yet. The refill bottles have a funnel shaped top allowing them to be poured very easily into the diffuser minimising the risk of spilling.
==My Experience with My Reed Diffuser==
The reed diffuser I chose was from the Tri-Glow range. When it arrived the oil was a bit shaken up and the 3 different colours of oil were pretty much one colour, but after a few hours the oil settled and gradually separated into the 3 distinct colours, yellow on the top, red in the middle and blue on the bottom. The fragrance I had chosen was Island Nectar, a lovely summer fragrance, which gave images of sitting on a beach sipping cocktails. Around the neck of the bottle was a string with a pretty medallion with a picture of a flower embossed on it. I took off the screw top lid and placed the wooden cowl around the neck of the bottle. I then placed 8 of the reeds into the oil. For a stronger fragrance you can use more reeds and likewise, for a gentler fragrance fewer reeds can be used. It does take a couple of days before you are fully aware of the fragrance as the oil has to work its way up the reed.
I was quite satisfied with the amount of scent being released by the 8 reeds. Not too strong a scent but just enough to give my room a lovely background aroma. I do think these reed diffusers are more suited to the smaller room they don't give off a strong enough fragrance to fill a large room but definitely do well in a smaller room.
The prices for these diffusers range from £15.95 to £26.45 with the 147ml refills costing £17.95. This does sound rather expensive but I have had mine for almost 5 months now and only the top layer of oil has gone, still leaving another two thirds and the fragrance is still as strong as it was when I first opened it. The catalogue states that the Diffuser gives 120 days of fragrance but in my experience it will definitely give much more.
I would definitely recommend the PartyLite Diffusers as they not only fill the room with a wonderful scent, they are long lasting and they are also beautiful centre pieces as well, much more attractive than plug-in, gel or spray fresheners.
