Advantages: Trusted brand name, Kind to sensitive skin, Nice fragrance

Disadvantages: More expensive than some alternatives

Persil have been making washing easier for over 90 years now. In 2002, Persil launched Persil Aloe Vera. In their words "Containing Aloe Vera extract, this product has been designed to leave washing clean, fresh and comfortable next to delicate skin".
But does the product live up to the marketing claim? From my experience so far, yes.

Persil Aloe Vera is available in both tablet and powder formats. Easily identifiable in the supermarket from the typical white coloured box and Persil written in red writing - the feature distinguishing the Aloe Vera version from other Persil products is the presence of 'Aloe Vera' written in green writing, a teardrop shaped graphic showing a section of an Aloe Vera plant inside, and frothy green tinted bubbles along the lower half of the packaging.

My personal preference where washing is concerned is to use tablets - in general I find them less messy and quicker to use... and where household chores are concerned, I always prefer the quickest option! Persil Aloe Vera tablets are similar in appearance to most other laundry tablets - round chalky textured chunky disc shapes. Perhaps the only noticeable difference between other tablets and these is that they have little green flecks in them... presumably the Aloe Vera extract. To use them for a full washing load you simply put two of the tablets into the little drawstring net provided and pop it in the washing machine along with your dirty clothes. The tablets themselves are packaged in pairs within the box in plastic wrappers. This is supposedly to help keep them 'fresher', but I also think it helps in stopping them from becoming damaged or damp whilst in the box.

One thing that is certainly noticeable about the tablets is that they have a more distincive fresh smell to them than some other washing powders and tablets I have used. On the packaging, Persil refer to this as a 'Light Aloe fresh fragrance'.

So... do t
hey work?

Washing-wise, Persil Aloe Vera tablets have never let me down - they've always managed to make my laundry clean, soft, and very fresh smelling, even without the use of a separate fabric conditioner. The freshness and softness does linger in the fabrics for some time.

Although I don't suffer from any serious skin conditions other than occasional mild eczema and mildly sensitive skin, I certainly feel as though clothes feel softer on my skin after having used Persil Aloe Vera. Persil claim that many people have found this product to be particularly suitable for their skin, but they do advise that "no effective washing product can be guaranteed suitable for people with serious skin conditions".

To conclude - I have been using Persil Aloe Vera tablets for some time now and I will continue to do so. Although they are slightly more expensive than some brands, they are certianly not the most expensive (currently priced at £2.46 for a box of 24 at Tesco). They are certainly worth the money.

I keep meaning to try this and I always forget. My skin's not sensitive, but lately, I've been prone to the most bizarre itchy shins, of all things. :o( Will look out for it in Tescos.
