Advantages: Convenient to use, Value for money, small packaging
Disadvantages: Terrible smell
I was very keen to try out the new Persil Capsules. How lazy we have become, the chore of using big box powder, the chore of filling up cups with liquid washing powder, the chore of putting tablets into a bag! Wow, just to throw the capsule into the washing machine - what a treat. And certainly, the capsules were very convenient - just throw in. However, intermittently my washing was, well, 'smelly'. I thought maybe it had not dried throughly - it was that kind of smell. At that time I was using all manner of washing, i.e. tablets etc so I did not immediately pin the problem down - I just rewashed. In particular, towels smelt. I became convinced it was my washing machine, but tracked it down to the Capsules. I gave the Persil helpline a call, and low and behold, I was not the first Customer to complain. (By this time it was late August 2001). Apparently, whilst acknowledging a problem, the absolute cause had not been discovered, but was thought to be a breakdown in components, causing the musty smell. I was sent some vouchers to compensate. Being a cashier in a Supermarket, I rarely see these Capsules sold, but must admit when I do see someone purchasing them, I cannot resist advising caution with this product. Incidently, having read a previous review, dated June, I am surprised to have had this problem in August? I would have thought Persil would have acknowledged having a problem within that time, and withdrawn the product? After all, they have lost me as a buyer of their Capsules. I cannot believe that just I, and another reviewer has had this experience with Persil Capsules. It highlights the point that Consumers must complain, not just throw the product into the bin, accepting the shortfall - we become part of the jigsaw, and the message will eventually get through, that it is not necessarily the equipment we are using etc. but a fault with the
ir product. It also helps to improve the product, although I am well and truly put off!
