I started using Persil non-bio when my first son was born. I didn't want to use a biological washing detergent on his delicate new skin and as I have always liked the scent of Persil it seemed logical to switch to Persil non-bio.

Persil non-bio comes in various forms and sizes. I buy the liquid version but if you prefer you could go for the tablet, power, or capsule versions. Persil also make a small and mighty non-bio, which is part of the concentrated range. I find liquid detergent easily to use with less mess than power and cheaper than capsules.

Persil non-bio liquid comes in a clear plastic container with a useful hand fold at the side. If you are buying this for the first time ensure you buy a bottle with a dosing ball attached. The liquid is easy to pour, although if you have weak wrists a full bottle may cause you problems.

The liquid is fairly thick and white in colour. To use you will need to fill the dosing ball to the suggested level and place into the back of your washing machine. The amount to use is clearly stated on the back of the container. I do find I can get away with using a bit less than the recommended amount and still get good result!

I love the scent of Persil, which is one of the main reasons I chose this brand. I have tried most other brands on the market but either find them to overpowering, in the case of Bold, or too sickly. Persil, for me, has the scent just right. It leaves a lovely fresh, just washed scent that lasts well. I really don't want my clothes to smell like lavender or lotus flowers!

Next for the all-important cleaning test! When I first switched from a biological detergent I was concerned that my clothes wouldn't be as clean. With children, clothing is often stained and very dirty. I can honestly say that Persil non-bio does an excellent job of getting rid of most stains. I do sometimes have to pre treat stains like grass before washing but this is not a problem. I try to soak any difficult stains in cold water as soon as they occur and this helps to ensure clothes stay looking good for longer. I try to wash most clothes on a 30-degree wash and find my clothes come out looking really clean. This applies for coloured and white washes.

Persil has never caused any skin problems for my family, so full marks here too! Persil non -bio is dermatological tested and the results are validated by the British skin foundation.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Persil non-bio; it does exactly what it says! It is widely available and at the moment is on offer in Tesco for £3 for a 1.5 litre bottle, instead of the usual selling price of £4.28. I'm off to stock up!

Summary: non-bio liquid
