Advantages: smell lovely, easy to use, stops me itching like mad
Disadvantages: a bit pricey I suppose, don't last long
Well I'm back after just four days in Tenerife. You wouldn't think we only went for four days with the amount of washing I've had to do. I've let David off doing some as he has to go straight back to work and I've got until Tuesday. For about a year or so now, I've been buying Laundry tablets, ok they might be more expensive than your conventional powder, but they are so handy and easy to use. Whilst in my local Co-op the other week, I came across a new product from Persil called Persil with Aloe Vera. There was also the tempting tag of 1/3 off the suggested retail price. This amounted to somthing like £2.69 for 24 tablets, that's 12 washes if you use the recommended 2 per wash. I always buy the Non-Biological tablets as I get very itchy skin, and it seems to help. Since switching from Bio to non Bio, I have noticed the difference, I only scrat a little bit now. With the tablets comes a leaflet explaining a little bit about Aloe Vera, apparently its part of the Lily family, hence my title. I pinched it from the leaflet, hope you don't mind. The plant also looks like a Cactus without the prickles I presume. It's kind on your skin, that's why sun products i.e aftersuns and lotions have Aloe Vera in it. I thought this would be excellent for my sensitive skin, even though the leaflet says "people with sensitive or damaged skin should avoid prolonged contact with this product", that puzzled me slightly as I thought Aloe Vera soothed sensitive skin. I will use the tablets up, then maybe change onto something else for a while, afterall I can always go back onto them. *Instructions for use* With the tablets you get a netted drawstring bag, unwrap the tablets and place them inside the bag. Then place the bag on top of the laundry at the back of the machine. They do dissolve very quickly leaving no powdery residue either. What I used to find with boxed powders were , t
hat it left white powder in my black tshirts. These don't do that at all, I'm very pleased with the results. Don't put the tablets direct into the dispenser, it will say on the packet if you have to do so. I have tried other tablets where you don't use a net and put them in the drawer. They aren't to be used for handwashing either, even though I'm sure no harm would come to your clothes. *Ingredients* Aloe Vera of course, Soap, Aliphatic hydrocarbon, Phosphonates, Anionic Surfactant, Non-Ionic Surfactant, Oxygen based bleaching agent, Zeolite. As I say, this is a non-biological pproduct but may contain some traces of Plant Enzymes. You can smell the Aloe Vera on opening of the wrapped tablets, they smell lovely and fresh. *Results* Clean, fresh smelling clothes. I don't know if they are any different than using any other powders, laundry products etc, but I do like trying new stuff, I guess I'm every advertisers dream customer. I've washed my bed linen with them and this is where I normally itch, in bed, so this was the real test. The sheets came out smelling gorgeous, but don't they all, I think everybody loves clean freshly laundered sheets. That night, I didn't itch once, maybe it's early days yet, but for now, I will carry on using them and recommending them to you. * Want a free sample* I ordered one two weeks ago, within a week I had my little pack of Persil Tablets. You only get a pack with two in, but at least it's free. Go to www.persil.com and there you can request your free sample. The site is great, with loads of info on Laundry prodcuts. The leaflet also gives you the chance of entering a free competition with postage paid. You can win £5000 worth of Thomas Cook Vouchers, which I have sent off today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I bought this product from my local Co-op but I presume A
sda, Morrisons sell it. Don't forget to look out for the 1/3 off tag. Happy washing..

- 15/07/02 I used to use tablets until I read in Men's Health that tests have shown them to have a bleaching effect on clothing. Must be something to do with what holds the powder together. |
