Disadvantages: Three times more expensive than my usually choice

Product I am reviewing: Persil Washing Powder -Bio - 950g

What attracted me? I am going to stay in Basingstoke tomorrow with my partner, and we have Sunday free. I noticed on the hotel's website that Thorpe Park is only 33miles and Legoland® only 25miles away. I looked for discount codes and finally on moneysavingexpert.com I found this offer. Don't know why I didn't try there first, it is a very good site.

This pack is the cheapest in the range that was available at my local Co-op. Retailing at £2.99 and celebrating 100 years of being "Tough but Gentle". As a thank you to its customers it is offering a free ticket for to the following attractions when accompanied by a full paying adult:
~Alton Towers
~Madame Tussauds
~Chesington World of Adventures
~Legoland® ... saving of £37.00
~Thorpepark ... saving of £35.00
~Sealife
~The Dungeons
~Warrick Castle
~Enjoy Ireland attractions

Valid until 31st August 2009 at the earliest

I wouldn't have bought the product if this was not the case, but even after the purchase price, we will save at least £32.01 on our day out. That's a nice meal somewhere on the drive back!

The box is attractive, claiming at least ten washes. After washing my first load with this product I am happy this is a true promise. I has a perforated tab to push in, in order to open it. Then you pull it up. To close it you just push it in. This is easy and it doesn't tear. It pours easy with no spillage at an appropriate speed.

The smell is very pleasant and clean and could be smelt strongly on my clothes when they came out of the machine which I like. I used fabric conditioner to, as recommended. The clothes where quite heavily soiled on going in and there was a blood stain on one item. This came out clean first go which is an unusual experience for me - I don't have the same luck with my usual brand. I was very please with performance.

Now dry the clothes have maintained the fresh smell, and they were dried indoors. At £2.99 it is much more than I usually pay for washing powder. I usually us basic/value/smart price - for a comparable size it is a third of the price. I wouldn't replace my normal powder but I might keep a box in stock for tougher stains. I think I would try other branded products for the same purpose first though as there might be a cheaper but effective brand.

Now I'm doing laundry like it's going out of fashion - the voucher is on the bottom of the box!!!

Summary: I'm glad I tried it and will keep it in mind if I need to get tough stains out

The smell of Persil will immediately transport me back to my childhood when my mother spent the whole day at the copper washing clothes in Persil.
