Advantages: Smell Great. Cleaning Power.
Disadvantages: Can Be Expensive
I must be one of the saddest creatures on the planet. I have a confession to make and it is one that many people find rather strange indeed. I have a rather odd obsession with washing dishes. This is something that most people I have come across to date absolutely hate doing. Particularly when you have just prepared a huge Sunday roast for example and the mountain of dishes requiring cleaning is often too much to bear for many people. I on the other hand quite relish the prospect of doing these. I believe it all spans back to childhood when washing dishes was a sure way to clear my brothers and sisters from the vicinity rapid style. I used to actually use this relatively quiet time to reflect on my thoughts and days experiences. I suppose today it is my ten minutes of time out from my daily routine. I was horrified when my husband suggested some years ago buying a dishwasher needless to say he never got his own way!!! He doesn't have to wash dishes very often I have to add my choice. (Told you I was a bit sad ok well very sad then). As a result of this I have tried several different types of washing up liquid over the years however I have decided that the best product to use is Persil washing up liquid. In this particular review Persil Aloe Vera washing up liquid to be exact.
This particular brand is manufactured by Unilever. The washing up range is part of a new campaign from the company to try and create a new look for Persil and to medernise the product. Gone are the days when washing up liquid was dull and boring. This Aloe Vera liquid is part of a group of relatively exotic "flavours" if you can call them that which comprise of Bright Pink Tropical, Green Tea and Lime, Berry Burst and Lemon Zest. I have to confess at this point that I haven't actually tried these others out yet however they all sound rather delicious. In addition Unilever have changed the design of the packaging too.
The packaging is made of clear plastic which I am pleased to say can be recycled. The bottle is thicker at the top and bottom with curves in the middle. Some of the plastic is slightly mottled so it makes gripping it much easier with wet hands. A very helpful yet clever idea. There is a green sticker on the front which sports the Persil logo in its trademark red colour. It also states that this is the Aloe Vera version of the product. In addition this liquid uses the dual active system which apparently will clean your dishes even better than before!!! The reverse Gives directions for use and highlights the product ingredients and the company address and contact number and website details.
This particular liquid was purchased at my local Asda store for the princely sum of 89p for a 500ml bottle. Bear in mind however that there appears to be a huge variation in price depending on where you actually buy this product as I have seen it being sold for as much as £1.49p!!!! There is a flip top lid which is very easy to use and snaps shut providing an effective seal which won't spill out if it is knocked over. It comes in an extremely attractive apple green colour. It smells of Aloe Vera and has a slight citrus undertone which reminds me of lime. It is very pleasant anyway.
The product itself is very thick and unlike some of the cheaper versions of washing up liquid on the market where you have to use half a bottle for one lot of dishes you need only use an extremely small amount of this product to create a nice lather. This means that it really does last ages and I can personally vouch for this. The fragrance is lovely when mixed with hot water and leaves not only your dishes smelling gorgeous but also your kitchen too. This fragrance is noticeable for a good hour or so after use. The product is very mild and leaves hands feeling soft. It almost feels like you have used shower gel for doing the dishes!!!
It works extremely well on glasses leaving them streak free and shiny. In addition it clears stubborn stains quickly and there is no need for scrubbing. Even baked on food is easily removed. You will still have to soak the odd pan or dish from time to time though. However after the liquid works its magic stubborn grease wipes off just like in the adverts. Overall I have not found any flaws with using this product at all and would highly recommend it. It may be a bit pricier than other product of the same type available on the market however for cleaning power I will stick to this one. Highly recommended 5 stars.
