Advantages: Lasts well, Doesn't irritate my skin
Disadvantages: Means I've got to wash up, Smell isn't as strong as I'd like
OK, so I'm turning into my mother. I'm about to sit here an extol the virtues of not Gap nor Versace but....... Citrus 'flavour' Persil Washing Up Liquid. Better get going then before the excitement causes me to have a heart attack! lol This is the first time I've ever used Persil (I'm usually a Fairy girl myself!) but I've got to say this is tops. :o) It comes in a striking looking chunky plastic bottle with a red flip top lid. The bottle is transparent so you can see a thick gloopy looking bright orange liquid. What's great about this bottle is there's a finger dent at the top of the bottle so when you're hands are slippy while washing up you can easily grip the bottle without dropping in either in the washing up water or on the floor. The back of the bottle makes up for the lack of information on the front of the bottle. This washing up liquid 'contains the added freshness of citrus fruits' and there is an ingredients list which includes 15 - 30% Anionic surfactants (whatever they might be! lol). The care advice basically tells you to wash and dry your hands after use and be careful if you've got dry or damaged skin. There is also the rather pointless statement: 'Lever Faberge quality and performance guarantee or your money back.' If I brought ANYTHING which didn't work like it was supposed to I'd take it back, and that includes washing up liquid! Personally I wouldn't say it smells of oranges. There's a lemony/grapefruity smell which I can only smell when I sniff the top of the bottle, the air isn't instantly scented with the smell of this liquid. When I start washing up with it and add the hot water the air immediately next to the sink is subtley scented. It's a pleasant smell though, although not so good as the Fairy range of washing up liquids. It does. A tiny squirt (it's concentrated) under hot running water and you've go
t loads of bubbles (this is when you can really smell the citrus scent) and if you run it under cold water you get even more bubbles! But loads of bubbles doesn't necessarily mean a brilliant wash (does it Morning Fresh? lol). I've just used it to wash a stew pot which had lentils and bits of leek stuck to the bottom and after soaking it for about 15 mins I only had to rub over it with my dishcloth and it's sparkling. A word of warning though - don't attempt to squirt a bit in the washing machine. The tiniest of squirts will result in suds all down the front of your washing mashine, coming out of the loading bit (I'm sure there's a techie name for that!) and the powder slot - I know, I tried it and cleaned up after it! It's great if you put a tiny bit on a damp sponge for wiping the work tops down and I put a generous squirt in the mop bucket before doing the kitchen and bathroom floor. Mark and the kids also use it as a handwash (which annoys me cos we've got a perfectly good bottle of hand wash sitting 2 steps away from the Persil!) and my 3 year old loves playing in the water with it. :o) I've also got to add that I've got quite sensitive skin and this didn't make my skin sore in the way some other washing up liquids do. This 500ml bottle cost me 79p in Kwik Save and has so far lasted just over a week. I've since seen them in Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Safeway and little independant shops - although the price can go up to as much as £1.19 in smaller shops. The washing up liquid comes in a variety of other 'flavours' including original (the green one) and lemon. Thanks for reading. :o)
