Advantages: Safe, realistic flickering

Disadvantages: Glass scratches easily, slightly unrealistic orange "flame"

I bought these candles from Amazon, having read some great reviews, after earning enough iPoints to get them. They were a wonderful reward.

I have moved into a very small room so it is not practical for me to have my beloved candles. Nor is it safe. These are the answer to all my prayers.

You get three candle-lamps in the box, along with the silver charging pod you see in the picture and a charger which you plug into the pod and the socket.

They are operated by simply picking up each candle-lamp and flicking it gently in your hand. To turn it off, turn it upside down.

Unlike every lamp I have ever owned, these DO NOT get hot, so you can safely handle and move them around. They run for about 10 hours I think; certainly all night long, as they did for me.

Looking at them from the side, they flicker just like real candles, although I felt the shade of orange was only slightly unrealistic. One downside is the frosted glass scratches ridiculously easily. Mine scratched when my hand slipped and my fingernail ran down it.

I would still recommend them though as you can leave them unattended and they're great at replicating the ambience of candles.

Summary: A great substitute for candles.

Thanks for this - have been looking for alternative to candles for eldrely MIL who panics in power cuts. I like the idea that you can carry them about with you where needed

A rough price would be helpful for the review.
