Advantages: it holds a nice lot of pegs
Disadvantages: It would dent if dropped
In the town where I live we have a little independent store that sells all sorts of kitchen and home ware bits and pieces. In the run up to Christmas I bought a pink peg tin from there for 99p the recommended price being £3.99, it wasn't one of my "pink whims" I really did need a peg container. I had been using an old ice cream tub which is fine but I wanted something to hang on the line as my youngest cat Layla keeps pinching my pegs and running of with them.
The peg tin only had one small label on it which simply said Tobbs Home ware.
My peg tin is oval and measures 16cm's high and 20cm's at the widest part around the rim. Its a lovely pale pink colour but they are made in cream, green and pale blue too. The word pegs is written on the front in white letters that look like they have been stencilled on. The bucket has a silver metal handle which looks like its been attached with little brackets at the side, it also has a silver hook in the middle. I have bought 40 new pegs for my tin and these just about fill it up.
The pink peg tin has holes punched in the bottom so if you leave it outside after using it any rain would drain through.
I'm pleased with my pink peg tin, apart from being a functional useful item it looks nice and has a real retro feel to it. The little hook is handy for hanging it on the line whilst using it or for storage. It has one disadvantage though, that is if you drop it it will dent whereas a plastic one or a bag wouldn't but this apart its a great little item.
I bought one for my mum as well and she has used hers as a planter for herbs on her kitchen windowsill which looks great despite having pegs written on the front. Although I got mine from a local independent store they are available in a lot of on line shops including Amazon and ebay for approximately £4.00.
I would certainly recommend the pink peg tin, its a cute little item that is also useful. There was no information on the label about possible rusting but just to be sure I never leave mine outside. There are lots of other kitchen products in this retro style so if you wanted you could get the whole look.
Summary: A nice retro peg bucket
