Advantages: I would say, only its availability in most DIY stores.

Disadvantages: Low opacity, low coverage, expensive, more work than is neccessary!

Indeed, for a quick touch up to a dusty old cupboard or a small coating of a large item this paint does what it says on the tin! However, from an artists point of view this paint is far from useful. The colours lack opacity, making it nearly impossible to cover a dark colour with one lighter than it, especially if using yellow, a notoriously horrid colour from the Plastikote range. During my art course I used a wide range of spray paint, and Plastikote does not offer an effective nor affordable spray paint option. Paint from the "Belton-Molotow" range provides an enormous range of colours with excellent opacity and superior valve control, perhaps a more valid choice for the aspiring spray paint artist. Belton Molotow is also usually sold for around £3 a 400ml tin, so is nearly half the price for double the quality! However, such paints can only be purchased off of the internet, and so Plastikote is definetlly a more widely available brand of spray paint, perhaps the deciding factor in its popularity within the DIY and Crafts community.

Summary: Plastikote is fine for a quick craft fix, but is far from aesthetically pleasing.
