~~~Tidbits about the maufacturer~~~ I like to know just who I am buying from. Familiar names sometimes turn out to have ethics I would rather not support, so now I check out the manufacturers before succumbing to mere sentimentality and familarity. SC Johnson Wax was founded in the mid 1880's when Samuel Curtis Johnson purchased a parquet flooring business and decided to refocus the business on his paste wax for wood floo and named the business after it (Johnson's Prepared Paste Wax Company). The business did well, and continued to expand into other areas of household cleaning. Interstingly, for a company so alrge, it is still a ... Read the complete review
I am a new giraffe. No, I have not had a new body fitted with super duper powers; I am a "new" giraffe. Just in case you think MrKing has turned into a giraffe I have to inform you, that yes this is a giraffe writing this, Geoffrey the mohican giraffe. (Some people put mad in that somewhere, but I am not mad, I am nice, I just get annoyed and scalp people sometimes.) So why am I a "new" giraffe, well let me tell you a story about hidey holes, dust that went up my nose and the unrequited love of my life Luscious Linda the female giraffe. I was having my breakfast one morning last week, (pop tarts of a chocolate flavour) when MrKing ... Read the complete review
On the rare occasions I get the polish out and actually polish the wooden furniture, then I reach for Pledge as I love the way it leaves a fresh, pleasant smell and a lovely polished dust-free surface. The only downside for me, is the fact that it makes me sneeze. Imagine my delight when I saw Pledge Dust and Go dry scented cloths. They are a dry wipe that is impregnated with Pledge polish. I saw them in Wilkinsons and they were about £1.45 for a refil pack of 10 cloths. They were originally designed to fit onto these floor sweepers like "Swiffer". The floor sweeper systems are quite expensive to buy, but the cloths are not and it was not long ... Read the complete review
There can be very houses which need simply "dusting". Whenever the duster and polish comes out, it is usually to remove that thin layer of dust and clean some or other sticky substance from furniture, television screens etc. Having bought many types of polish, mainly attracted by their claims for removing dust or simply because they smell nice, I always return to Pledge Clean and Dust. Rather than simply picking up dust, this polish will remove dirt and stickies from surfaces. Other polishes tend to smear sticky marks rather than removing them and also leave a build up of polish on wood surfaces. ... Read the complete review
Seems I use a lot of different polishes I am not loyal to one brand. I usually prefer a natural smell to polish my wood with I have reviewed Mr Sheen ant Tesco’s value polish in aerosol cans so thought I would review Pledge. Pledge is made by Johnson and available in most supermarkets my canister I bought in Tesco for 83p. Same price as mr sheen. The canister Pledge is presented in is similar to the one. The can contains250 ml of polish. So I shake the can, point and squirt my polish onto my wooden computer desk. I held the can a few inches away from the desk and a white polish sprays onto the surface. I sniff mmmmm yes its nice . I like ... Read the complete review
