Advantages: Smell

Disadvantages: price

I am currently conducting a survey in my house - upstairs I am using Pledge Clean adn Dust Amber Lemon and downstairs I am using Tesco value Furniture Polish. The pledge I got for 85p, the tesco value costs 40p.

Firstly, the Pledge wins on smell. The Amber Lemon is really very pleasant. It also hangs around for a while, but is not overpowering. The Tesco Value has the really "old fashioned" furniture polish smell, which isn't nice when first sprayed but is okay once its faded.

The Pledge has the advantage of cleaning just about any surface. I have tested it on glass and this works very well. It cleans easily and does not smear. On wood it does bring the surfaces up clean and shiny. The Tesco works okay on glass, but it is harder work to stop it smearing. They are comparable on wood, although I have noticed that the tesco one seems to get dusty a little more quickly. The Pledge doesn't boast that it is dust repellant, so I don't know if this is something genuine that I ahve spotted or a mere coincidence.

On the whole, I am torn between the two products ; my pledge was twice as expensive (and I'm sure I got it cheap!)but it does seem to reduce effort slightly so this may be worth paying extra for if you are busy. The main selling point for me is the smell. It is absolutely wonderful!

Maybe upstairs just doesn't have so much dust flying about as downstairs... bedrooms are usually used less.. although more skin rubbing goes on in them.

A good recommendation and it sounds to me as if it's worth spending the money for the Pledge!! I always think the real test is wether they're effective on glass!

Wish I could "take the pledge", as it were. Maybe I will.
