No fuss floor cleaning (Pledge Wet Wipes)

Advantages: Quick, easy to use, disposable.

Disadvantages: Quite expensive if you use them a lot.

In 2007 we gutted our kitchen and replaced everything...including the floor, a beautiful solid oak floor with an antique finish. The problem is, our kitchen is a well trodden route through to the rest of the house house from the garden. With a husband who has new hobby...'the vegetable patch' coming in in his wellies, a dog who has followed him to the vegetable patch following him in and a cat who gets into all sorts of everything running in and out it takes a bit of a hammering! You notice I don't mention myself here?? I am the one cooking and spilling things all over the lovely floor whilst all this goes on around me! Needless to say, this floor needs regular cleaning.

You can't beat the good old mop and bucket, but it can be a bit time consuming. I use pledge wet wipes for a quick once over in between 'proper' moppings, or to clean up any emergencies on the floor. It is possible to buy these wipes with a sweeper to attach them to, but I just get down on my good old hands and knees and give it a wipe. Our kitchen is about 18ft long and 10ft wide and it takes me 5 wipes and about 5 minutes to do the whole thing, nice and quick (I don't hang around!)

A pack of 20 wipes costs around £3.00, each wipe is quite large, I would say around 30cm square. They have a really nice clean fragrance and are suitable for wood, laminate and linoleum floors. They quickly and easily clean your floor to a nice shine. The fluid dries quickly too, probably within about 5 minutes.

I wouldn't use these wipes alone to clean the floor, they are a quick fix as I said, but they do give a great finish, they clean effectively and you can just throw them away when you are done.

Summary: Great for a quick once over.
