Advantages: A good all round furniture polish

Disadvantages: none

We housewives are martyrs to the cause, a new product is launched and we flock like sheep to try it.
S C Johnson have been making furniture polish for donkeys years, so they have had plenty of practise.
The household budget has to stretch to a decent polish or it`s not worth dirtying the duster.
I wouldn't put dusting down as one of my favourite tasks but it has to be done now and again.
Act in haste and repent at leisure is one of those old sayings that you must never forget, one that should have entered my head as soon as I picked the Pledge wipes from Tesco's shelf. My Pledge wipe trial was on the pine bedroom cabinets and for me they just didn't pass muster. The spray polish leaves them virtually streak free but the wipes seemed to leave heavy streaking, it could well be that they work better on different surfaces.

My first choice would be the Pledge clean and shine, a bright orange aerosol can that stands out on the shelf. A 250ml can is usually just under £1 and lasts me about a month, if you are into polishing big time then you will need more than the one can a month.
On the can it `Pledges` to clean and shine and has a big fat juicy orange sat prominently on the front.
I suppose having `Buster` that big hunk of golden retriever makes it my first choice because it helps to remove allergens from dust mites and pet skin flakes that tend to hang around.
Clean and Shine shoots from the nozzle looking as though it intends to do some work, a fairly wet spray that has a pleasant citrus smell.
Not only does it work well on the contemporary woods, pine, teak and oak but it copes well with bathroom and kitchen cabinets too.
Clean and Shine is an all rounder, I can swiftly give my wood panelling in the hallway a good buff up and then give my tatty old leather armchair a bit of a shine with it too.
If you are looking for something that smells fresh that will clean stainless steel then look no further! stainless steel, metal and chrome all benefit from the Clean and Shine polish.

Its not often that you find a polish that will kill six birds with one stone, if you are like me you seize the opportunity.
You need to hold the can about eight inches away from the surface that you intend to clean, then spray and wipe off almost straight away with a soft cloth. Don't think you have to rinse it off, just buff the surface to a shine.
The polished surfaces are protected without any build up of wax and it contains an Anti-dust formula which pretends to keep the dust away for longer. I say pretend because it`s good polish but it`s not magical!

Most of my furniture is either old or odd! There are a few pieces that I don't use the Clean and Shine on, an old sea chest, a blanket box and an oak bookcase. I splashed out and bought some National Trust Furniture polish for those things.

Pledge have a product to cope with any polishing or dusting task, their range isn't overly expensive either. The Pledge Clean and Shine suits me down to the ground, a fresh, clean smelling polish that copes well with all types of surface.
I don't have any laminate floors but instructions on the can do state that the polish would make laminate floors too slippery...be warned.
So next time you pay a visit to the supermarket get a can and see if you rate it as highly as I do.

Summary: A good all round polish that copes with all types of surfaces.

I like Pledge original as the smell reminds me of my mam and her beautifully polished kitchen table
