The last review I done was on Poundland so I thought I would follow that up with a review on one of the more useful items I have purchased from there. if your opposed to killing little flies and bugs please don't read any more of this killer review!
What Is It
********
For those who have not seen one of these before this bug zapper looks exactly like a tennis racket, but when you have a closer look at it you will notice it's made of plastic, it has a battery compartment, a button and a small red light, also the stringed part is actually made up of several layers of wire mesh.
How Dose It Work
**************
Put 2 x AA batteries into the compartment on the handle, press and hold the small button and the red light comes on, now your zapper is powered up and ready to go, anything that touches the mesh grid will be in for a shock!
Now your thinking 2 x AA batteries only gives you 3 vaults so it's not going to do to much damage is it? well think again as this device must have some clever electronics inside it that boosts the power enough to zap anything that touches it.
Build Quality
**********
I wont beat about the bush, the quality of this item is rubbish! the plastic material is very soft, the joints on the plastic are not joined together perfect which leaves rough edges and the battery compartment cover is not a very good fit, if you hit something solid like a wall or sofa when your swinging to zap a fly you will probably smash, or at least crack the handle, I have one from last year with a piece of wood taped to the handle because I got into a bit of a battle with a very spritely Bluebottle! that said it does still work.
Does It Work
***********
*WARNING, INSECT LOVERS PLEASE DO NOT READ*
I put 2 x cheap batteries in my zapper held the button in and swiftly but gently swung it towards the little Fly, as soon as the mesh made contact with the Fly there was a loudish crackle and the Fly hit the floor dead, larger Bluebottles and things like Daddy long legs go down just as quick with a bit more of a crackle and even a blue flash.
If you hate Spiders as much as me then read on, I sometimes find some very big scary Spiders in my house, if they are tucked away in a dark cupboard that's fine, they can live happily ever after, but if they are going to run across the living room floor or walk above me on the bedroom ceiling then i am afraid it's death by zapper, and these big eight legged freaks go down just as quickly as the Flies, I sleep in peace at night in the knowledge that I wont be having a Spider drop into my mouth while sleeping, the only problem you might have is pressing the zapper bat onto a flat surface over your spider, be careful not to break the handle.
Do we want to go bigger! Moths can be zapped too, and these go down just as quickly as the small fry, I have never had any trouble with Sparrows, Crows, Hawks or anything bigger so i cant say how big you could go but I will update my review if i do!
Warning!
*******
One day when you and your friends have had a few drinks someone will dare you to press the mesh together on your zapper, or even worse you will be dared to stick your tongue on it, if you do it please leave a comment on how much it hurts because i dare not try it!
More Info
********
This item has no brand name on it and i threw the bag out before doing this review so i don't know much about it, it's probably made in Hong Kong, I got this from Poundland but i have seen similar ones in other pound shops and cheap shops.
Summary: Buy one if youe not an bug lover
