How can any drill that cost £12.99 be any good? That was my first thought too. Strolling through Great Mills/ Focus DIY, I spotted a drill/ driver for the silly price of £12.99, "probably good for making holes in chocolate and cheese!" I said trying to cover up a genuine interest. Fact is I'd thought about getting a cordless screwdriver for ages and never got round to it. I sidled over to the large pile of boxes trying to be aloof, picked one up and started to read. Power Devil PDX72, cordless drill-driver, reverse action, 7.2volt motor, 450rpm, 6 torque settings, 5-hour charge time. Well 450rpm is faster than any cordless screwdriver ... As a single parent not only do I have to watch the pennies but I have more of those little jobs that need doing round the house, like putting up shelves and curtain rails etc, those jobs I have to say over the years had got fed up with waiting for them to be done. Now I do have plenty of offers to do those little dIY jobs I had decided to take the task in-hand and purchase some powertools that would allow me to become a DIY Whizz. I picked up the latest copy of the Argos Catalogue and pondered over the various Power tools big ones, small ones and as for the prices! Until I came accross a special little package - PowerDevil Twin Pack, Hammer Drill and Cordless Drill ... Read the complete review

I bought a Power Devil drill cordless with hammer action. It worked very well for while and then one day whilst removing a screw and holding the drill firmly the large black chuck assembly unscrewed at the same speed as I was removing the screw. I was then left with a handful of chuck and drill. It appears that now having screwed it back together I have no hammer action. It was wonderful until this happened. It seems the fixing method for the chuck was 2 screws that to me were not actually screwed into anything to stop the assembly from undoing itself. I hope that this is just a flaw in my drill and not all of them because other than that the 1 ... Read the complete review

Even though it has the name of Power Devil on it, the drill is a well built and well featured cordless hammer drill, the motor is made by Johnson which i am told is a quality make, the battery has a large voltage of 19.2V and is made by Panasonic, the keyless chuck made is made by Jacobs and is a 13mm one which is rare to see on budget priced tool. The drill has 16 torque settings, standard drill mode, hammer drill mode variable speed which is 0-1000 rpm as well as forward and reverse actions. The battery charge time is 1 hour which is a real bonus. The drill is comfortable in use despite the bulk of the battery. It comes in a plastic case which also includes a small ... We have an expensive plug in hammer drill, and a cheap £25 Power Devil cordless drill/driver. Yes the cheap one is the one that gets used most. It came in a case with a selection of drill bits and a couple of screwdriver bits. Keep it charged up and when you need to use a drill or drive a screw you pick it up and use it instantly, no need for extension cables through a circuit breaker to the nearest socket. It will easily handle a wide range of SMALL jobs and small jobs are what I mostly do. For anything heavy you can't beat the more powerful plug in drills but I wouldn't be without my cheap cordless. ... Read the complete review
