Nice cheap basic scented candle that won't win prizes for its looks

Aladdin Cinnamon Room freshener scented candle

This interesting little candle was one of my parking payment purchases from Home Bargains. We have a car park in Derby where you pay 3.20 pounds for up to 2 hours parking but if you spend a fiver in any of the stores you can get your parking money refunded. I always prefer to get something for my money rather than just pay for parking so I often park in there. The candle I have is a different shape but same scent so the photo is not exactly the same as my candle.

On this occasion I bought several toiletry items and also two scented candles; this 'Cinnamon Sticks' one and also a really handy 'Odour Buster ' one which got rid of cooking smells. According to the cardboard wrapper around the jar this is a Price's candles and is made with top quality wax and fragrances. On the wrapper it also states that the candle lasts for 30hours and I do believe I got at least that from my little candle. As it only cost me 79p I was quite impressed with how long this lasted.

The candle comes in a small rounded glass jar with a simple cardboard sleeve around it which is brown in colour and has the name Aladdin in dark blue on a grey background. It doesn't look that posh and the jar is quite a simple rounded jar more functional than attractive. It will win no prizes for beauty but looked perfectly decent in my family room.

The scented quality of the candle was really good and it filled the room with the scent of cinnamon which reminded me of mulled wine. The active extracts in the candle are cinnamon and I love the smell of cinnamon and nutmeg as they remind me of Christmas smells. They recommend that the candle is burned for at least 2.5 hours to get the most of the scent. For larger areas of over 20sq meters then they suggest burning two candles at opposite sides of the space and burning then for about 4 hours. I only burned this in my little TV room and it was more than adequate for that room as we could smell it quite strongly after an hour of burning and the scent lasted a good while after I snuffed it out too.

There are also the usual warnings about not leaving burning candles unattended. Place upright on a heat proof surface and keep them away from children. They also tell you not to move the candle when lit or even when the wax is still liquid. The final warning tells you if the candle does get too hot and catch fire then smother it with a damp cloth but NEVER USE WATER. You should always have at least 10cm between lit candles for safety too.

In conclusion the scent is really nice, the candle lasted well but it won't win any prizes for beauty as the jar is rather plain though not offensive in any way. I would certainly buy this one again at the price I paid. This is a functional candle at a great price that does a good job of freshening a small room with a festive spicy cinnamon aroma.
