Advantages: easy to apply, and stickiness lasts for a long time

Disadvantages: the price!

As a general rule of thumb, brand name products annoy me; I would say that 6 times out of 10 they are no better than cheaper versions - Pritt Stick is different.

I am a teacher, and I stick a lot of stuff into books. I use Pritt Stick, but I also use a variety of cheap alternatives (when the faculty budget is low), so I know the comparative strengths and weaknesses.

In a nutshell, Pritt Stick sticks things better than cheaper alternatives. It's easy to apply (unlike some) and doesn't dry and go into 'block' form quickly. Most importantly, the papers stay stuck for a long time, certainly through the life-span of a student's exercise book (around 4 months). It does everything you need of a glue stick, and cannot be faulted.

It's solvent free (but that doesn't stop some of my students sniffing it!) and is washable for when you get it on your clothes!

It contains small parts, so don't give it to an under 36 month old (there are other baby friendly glues out there), so that is perhaps the only warning I can give. You may think you wouldn't need glue if you're under 36 months, but my two year old is already colouring and would like to play around with glue if it wasn't so dangerous (and expensive!)

The price is pretty staggering - around £4 for the 40 stick. You can get cheaper glue for almost 1/10 of that, so you do have to weigh up the pros and cons carefully, but remember that the cheap ones don't work as well. If you're just making paper chains to hang for a couple of weeks over Christmas, then by all means use Lidls own, but if you want something to last, bring out the Pritt Stick.

Summary: Stick with this one
