Advantages: Sticks firmly

Disadvantages: Can loose its stickiness after years.

In between rating some reviews on here, I have been doing some arts and crafts with Noah. I think it's a really important ritual to get into sending 'Thank you' cards to people when they give us gifts of any kind and since the boys got a lot of money and eggs for Easter, we needed make some cards. I thought that we would use the foil from the eggs that he had already eaten and send everyone an easter egg 'Thank you'. I suppose it's a bit like recycling. We couldn't do much without the trusty Pritt Stick and that's what inspired this review.

Pritt Stick is a plastic, cylinder tube that has glue inside. At the bottom of the tube is a black bit that you can turn and this will cause the glue to move up so you can use it. The glue is white in colour and it comes in a few different sizes. The one we have is 40g and cost us around £1.50 in Tesco. You buy it at just about every supermarket of stationary shop and I've even seen it in some garages so it's widely available. It's solvent free and is also washable.

If you are looking for a hard core glue that will stick absolutely anything then you shouldn't buy this. It's excellent at sticking any sort of paper or card product and you can get away with some material. We used some bits of ribbon, some little pom, poms that are covered in fluff and small bits of tinsel and it has done a good job of keeping that in place.

The thing I find with this glue is that it needs to be kept in a cool place or it ends up going quite soft. This is fine if you know how to use it sparingly and are expecting it to be soft but when a two year is having a mess around with one then it can be an absolute mess.

There isn't much in the pritt stick and if you took it out of the tube I expect you'd be digusted at paying £1.50 for the contents that you see before you. The thing is that it seems to go on forever. I've had this particular stick for around a year and it's still going so it's money well spent.

I really like the fact that there is no mess with this stick (unless you have a two year old involved in the sticking process!). You can roll up as much as you need and you don't have to get a trail of slug goo everywhere like PVA glue.

You do have to make sure that you don't roll up the glue too far or one of two things can happen. Either the stick breaks or bends in the middle or you can't get the glue to go back down into the tube as you have somehow disturbed the simple turning system that is used to make it move up and down. Just stick to rolling up a few centimetres and you will be fine.

This glue drys clear so you don't have to worry about putting the exact amount on the surface because you won't see it anyway unless the light catches it and then you may see a shiny bit. It doesn't take long to dry and depending on how thick of thin you spread it, then it can be bone dry in a metter of 10 to 15 minutes which is great if you need to send something quickly.

This glue doesn't have a potent smell to it and it is solvent free which is very safe. I think it has a nice sweet smell to it and on occasions I have been tempted to eat it. I haven't of course, that would be an expensive dinner!

My only complain about this glue is that after a number of years (and that really is years) it can loose it's stickiness and things can become unglued. It can also go a little yellow if you have used it on white paper but apart from that it's great.

Over all I would definitely recommend this glue to anyone who thinks they could use it and if you are expecting then forget the baby bath and pram, you'll need one of these!

Summary: A household must!

Yeah you are right. The trouble was the other thing I could think of when I was pondering 'stick' was my mum shouting after my dad 'stick it up your arse then' when they had, had a row! Changed it now though:)

If you recommend it, maybe the title is a bit misleading?!
