Advantages: strong, durable & easy to read measurements

Disadvantages: i only have one

Whilst I was a student & before I got my first paid job everything had to be done 'on the cheap' in my little flat. This included cheap & nasty plastic measuring jugs which I had to keep replacing because they either melted or went tatty around the rims.

When I started work one of the first things I bought was my Pyrex measuring jug which still stands proudly in my cupboad over 25 years later!

The measurements are a little faded now but still readable even though it gets used 2 or 3 times a week.

It's a good weight & comes with a sturdy handle - both of these factors are important especially if you are baking or cooking with small children.

The measurements are easy to read & are given in both imperial & metric - I was brought up on pints & my daughters on litres so it suits everyone.

I use it for making jellies & instant custards as well as baking, sometimes hair-washing, plant-watering & making my face-packs.

I have also used it in the oven, microwave & freezer & it's dishwasher-safe.

I smile when I reach for my jug as it reminds me of when my daughters were small & loved to just measure for the sake of it!
