One of the most useful things in my kitchen is my Pyrex measuring jug. It is now over 3-years old and shows little sign of wear. It is used every day and I really wouldn't want to be without it!

Pyrex glass is very tough and is oven, dishwasher and microwave safe. Unlike those nasty plastic jugs, Pyrex glass jugs won't harbour any odours or flavours. Neither will it stain or become discoloured. My jug can hold 1 litre of liquid and has clear red measurement markings in both metric and imperial measures. The markings have begun to fade a little now but are still clearly visible.

The jug can be used for both boiling and freezing liquids. It has a wide, thick glass handle that doesn't get hot so is safe and comfortable to hold. The jug pours well too. I often use my jug in the microwave for such things as heating milk or melting chocolate. It is also great for keeping liquids in the fridge, just cover the top with cling film.

Pyrex has been around for as long as I can remember and make a range of kitchen glassware. I have several casserole dishes and bowls all of which show little sign of wear. I can't remember what I paid for my jug but have seen 1 litre Pyrex jugs for under £6 and 500ml jugs for under £3. Pyrex jugs come with a 2-year guarantee. I think that is a real bargain!

Summary: Pyrex measuring jug

I swear by pyrex, and you are right, you can snap them up pretty cheaply these days!
