Advantages: good durable product
Disadvantages: hard to clean
Flan, flan, flan. Let me tell you about the Pyrex flan, or quiche dish. Not Pytex think that's a spelling mistake dooyoo.
Yes it's another Pyrex dish I have it was my mothers.
This Pyrex flan dish does not get used very often. I might actually give it to the charity shop when I get round to it, then again its useful it I am cooking for large numbers.
So what about Pyrex flan /quiche dishes? Well they are round flan dishes. They are available in 3 sizes 24 cm, 27 cm, 30 cm. I have the big one. 30 cm circumference about 4 cm in depth. When I make a flan or quiche in this I get plenty of slices out of it.
I do not just use this dish for flans and quiches though .I serve salad leaves in it, I make sponge puddings pm it too.
This flan dish is quite versatile really.
I could store this dish and contents in fridge or freezer. I can cook in it up to a temperature of 300 c. I can wash it in the dishwasher or in the sink by hand.
Uhh ohh washing up this is one reason why I do not use this prettily fluted edged flan dish. The bits get stuck in the fluted cleaning is not easy especially if there are burnt on bits.
Pyrex makes many glass cookware products out of borosilicate glass
they can withstand temperatures up to 300°, Pyrex dishes are very tough can be dropped and although if really dropped hard onto hard surface they will not break. Pyrex dishes make ideal wedding presents.
Pyrex dishes have a ten year guarantee with them mine, my mums must be at least 20 years old
You should be able to buy a flan dish from between £4 and £10 www.twenga.co.uk/dir-Homewares seem to have a large choice at fair prices. However you should be able to guy a Pyrex flan dish almost all department stores like John Lewis or Debenhams
I have just entered a competition to win some more Pyrex  at http://www.arc-international-cookware.com/en/produ cts/glass-cookware.php
Look at this site to see all the available Pyrex cookware too.

- 07/12/08 Love pyrex products and own an assortment of jugs, mixing bowls, large plates, pie/pudding dishes - tough, great for oven or microwave - I wouldn't be without mine. Nice review. |
