Advantages: good softness

Disadvantages: the name

You cannot deny it, everyone enjoys the thought of using really good toilet paper. Not just your bog standard (get it?) paper, but a toilet tissue which makes you sit up, while you're in there, and exclaim 'good lord, this is soooo good.' Ok, you might not utter those words out loud while in the bathroom, but I am willing to bet you have thought it at some point.

I usually make do with middling brands of toilet paper, not the sandpaper types or the tracing paper that they gave you at school, but ones which are soft enough not to give you burn marks or cut you with razor sharp edges. Chancing upon Velvet was an experience and a half. Imagine Andrex, picture the softness, now multiply that by ten and you will be able to soak up the warmth and sensuality that this Velvet tissue offers.

Available in a variety of shades (which is always handy for colour coordinated bathroom freaks) the tissue can be bought in four roll or nine roll packs. I went for the four roll pack, as I cannot fit nine rolls in a shopping basket and I am also dubious that other shoppers might think have some sort of dietary problem, walking around with so much toilet paper. A little over two quid was a reasonable price, so no quibbles there and after all it is something you have to buy, it's not like you can think 'nah I'll skip on the loo roll this week, as I am on a budget.'

It is embossed, which means it has a raised surface, ripples and dents to ..er, well I don't know why it needs to be embossed, but it looks posh. It feels ever so soft and the tissue is very absorbent (coughs.)

My one criticism is that it does not feel like velvet, velvet is furry and you want to keep stroking it like a cat by an open log fire. I can quite happily say that I did not feel the urge to sit in front of my fire and stroke a roll of this. Otherwise, a lovely toilet tissue with a smooth touch.

Summary: fun toilet product

Things have come a long way since my grandmother's days when toilet paper was neatly cut squares of news papers hung on a piece of string:-)

Haha, I too worry what people will think of me if I buy too much toilet roll at once! :)
