Advantages: works quickly on flies and wasps

Disadvantages: smells awful, can't spray near animals or fish

When it comes to wasps I'm a big girl. I hate them, they scare me and if one makes a, dare I say it, beeline towards me I'm the person you see flapping and dodging to try and get away from it. I also find they seem to know who these people are and head directly for them, follow them in a threatening manner and attempt to sting them just for fun. Wasps are aggressive and I can't bear them.

I also have allergies and (touch wood) have never been stung by a wasp but dread to think what might happen if I was so another good reason to avoid the little blighters.

Imagine my horror a few nights ago, half one in the morning to be precise, when I opened the back door to have a cigarette before going to bed and not one, but two wasps came charging in. At night?! I haven't figured out why they were around at night but it happened again last night so if anyone can shed some light on why they've suddenly started harassing me after dark as well as in the day I'd be interested to hear it.

Now we have a little porch where I smoke and that's what they flew into, heading straight for the light and buzzing and whipping round the area like they were crazy. Me not being very brave ducked back through the door to the house and safety.

But what to do? I couldn't leave the back door unlocked and daren't go back in there unarmed so I searched around for a weapon. The can of Raid we bought last year for the flies was still on the shelf! I snatched it up, then stood listening for a few minutes to try and establish when the wasps were near the door and when they moved away.

Once I'd figured that out I waited until they moved away then bravely (not) inched the door open, took aim and fired. Slammed the door shut and listened.

30 seconds of hysterical buzzing later I finally got silence. Not believing wasps are just insects with no cunning tricks up their wings I waited a whole 3 minutes before venturing in. Both dead. Utter relief. And the one last night went the same way courtesy of Raid and the "behind the door attack method". So for me Raid is a top product!

It works better as a quick knock-down spray as long as you can aim ok, smells foul but don't all fly sprays? It works well on flies as well as wasps but if you have cats, dogs or fish don't spray it near them or their food. My cats were nowhere near the porch thankfully or I'd have had to go one-on-two with them and a rolled up newspaper which we all know makes them furious if you miss!

I can't remember how much it was, we bought it last year when we had lots of flies, but I can highly recommend it.

Summary: Brilliant wasp killer
