Raid Fly and Wasp Killer
Advantages: A good product to kill those pesky bugs
Disadvantages: Not a pleasant odour
I am not a bug fan. I can cope with flies and that's about it really. I am terrified of wasps, and even more so of spiders. It isn't so bad however when hubby is around to get rid of the bugs that appear, however that it not always the case and in fact it very often happens that when my husband is still at work and I am on my own in the house, the bugs appear.
A few years ago I purchased this Raid Fly and Wasp Killer Spray, which currently costs £1.95 for a 300ml aerosol spray in Tesco. It was predominantly bought to kill any wasp that would come into the house, but also flies and other bugs.
This product claims on the front to 'kill bugs dead'. It states that it 'kills flying insects in seconds' but it to be used only as an insecticide. THe label itself with the product name is large and noticeable with a lightning rod striking some bugs on the front.
On the reverse of the bottle, it states that this SC Johnson product has 'swift killing power on flying insects including flies, wasps and mosquitoes'. It also claims that the product has a pleasant 'outdoor fresh scent' and that it will give you 'control of flying insects in domestic premises (including kitchens, schools, shops and hotels'.
THere are also warnings on the back that this aerosol product is not good for the environment and very flammable.
As I said I bought this aout two years ago and am still using the same bottle. I use it on flies, wasps, spiders, and even an large earwig that managed to get into my kitchen. It may not be the kindest method of killing bugs, but I'm afraid that unless I get rid of the bug, it completely interferes with wat I am doing at the time and I can;t relax unless it is gone for good.
Although the product claims to kill bugs dead, I have found that it often takes more than one or two sprays of this product to really kill the bug, especially bigger bugs like spiders. In saying that however, there is not a bug yet that is still living after I have sprayed it with this product, and so it acheives its purpose.
In terms of the pleasant odour, pleasant is not a word I would use. The smell is not terrible, but it is not something that I would want to be around for long, or be breathing in at all.
All in all, this is a pretty good product, despite a few of its claims being somewhat exaggerated.
Summary: a good product for those wanting rid of bugs
