Raid Fly and Wasp Killer
Advantages: A good fly and wasp spray that works fast.
Disadvantages: Smells awful!
Our son has special needs and is terrified of every sort of flying insect. Wasps are the most feared, and not just by him. I think we have had a wasp nest somewhere in our house every year since we moved here. We live in the country too, so flies and wasps are never that far away. Once the windows and doors are open for the summer, it's open-house for the flying insects! I hate the things!
The first thing we usually hear in our house when a fly or wasp enters is not the buzzing.....it's the plaintive yell from our son, 'GET THE RAAAAAAAID!'.
What would we do without our trusty can?
Raid is an excellent fly and wasp killer. It comes in easy to use aerosol cans and costs about £2.20 for 300ml. One can usually lasts us about 2 months in our house. The information on the can says that 'it has a pleasant outdoor fresh scent'. Sorry...but I can't see what is pleasant about the scent at all! It's awful, but something I am willing to put up with if it gets the job done! You do have to be careful not to breathe in the mist. If you do get any on your tongue the taste lingers for ages, and it really isn't pleasant!
I find Raid is very fast working on all sorts of flies and particularly wasps. A direct hit usually does the job, but if you have lots of annoying little flies in a room, a good spray all over, then shut the door and leaving the room for a few minutes usually works. All you need to do then is remove the annoying little bodies from the windowsill.
It kills wasps very fast, which for us is a must, as our son really does fear them. Mosquitos and crane flies also succumb to the spray too, which does save a lot of bites!
Naturally, you have to be a bit careful when using the spray. It does contain strong chemicals and if you have a fish tank then I would avoid using anywhere near it as the spray is harmful to fish. Spraying near pet food and indeed any food should be avoided.
Once the summer comes, Raid is a must-buy for me. I've tried other flie killers and no other does the job as quickly.
Summary: A really fast-working fly and wasp killer.
