Raid Fly and Wasp Killer
Advantages: Kills nasty things you don't want in your house
Disadvantages: Stinks, unpleasant fumes
Nobody likes having wasps in their house, even if you aren't particularly scared of them the stings are still unpleasant and they're horrible buzzy little things with apparently no saving graces like lovely fluffy bumble bees! If you find a wasp in your house you basically want it out, or preferably dead then out. This is where Raid comes in! Oh, and don't even get me started on bluebottles, why on earth are they so good at finding their way IN an open window but so rubbish at finding their way out?
Having a can of Raid always waiting in readiness is a great idea, I would recommend that everybody goes out and buys some before they need it so that you're prepared when you do. The can is about the size of a can of air freshener or furniture polish but its not easily mistaken for anything else thanks to the clear design of the can. Don't worry about accidentally picking up the wrong one and spraying it liberally over your furniture, it won't happen!
It does what its supposed to with great effect, it works better on wasps and smaller flies than on the huge bluebottles the size of your fist who cling to life for a bit longer in the face of their impending doom, but eventually, it gets 'em all. Littler flying things will drop to the ground with a quick direct spray of just a second or so. Bigger wasps and flies require a more sustained attack, and if you're facing something huge, or you've got a swarm situation on your hands then you might be better off holding your breath, spraying loads into the room then closing the door and evacuating for an hour or so. They'll be dead by the time you come back in but you won't have had to breath in the nasty fumes.
The fumes are really the only downside to Raid. It does, unfortunately, stink to high heaven and gets to the back of your throat and your chest if you spray too much or if you linger in the vicinity for too long. Its probably not very good for small children and pets so that can be barrier to going on regular fly and wasp killing sprees.
Summary: Good to have in the cupboard in case of insect invasion
