Advantages: Excellent water quality/purity, Durable, trouble-free system, Factory direct technical support

Disadvantages: Self installation

We learned it the painful way that when it comes to water filter systems, a good quality system is well worth its value. Several years ago I made a HUGE mistake of purchasing a "bargain" R.O. system (costing about $220) from a mass merchandizer. On June 27, the bargain R.O. system failed. More specifically, the 2nd stage, carbon block, filter housing cracked wide open and spilled ~250 gallons into the center of my house. Thank goodness, my wife and I were home and our dogs were able to alert us to the flood. Although the flood was repaired within an hour, and the cleanup began immediately, the damage incurred was still multiple thousand of dollars. My $100 savings at time of purchasing my previous R.O. system is now costing me and my insurance company much MUCH more. Had we been on vacation, this minor incident could have easily resulted in major damage (multiple tens of thousands of dollars)!!!

Having to replace the R.O. system, I got on the internet and began to investigate who made the BEST system available. All information pointed to APEC (www.freedrinkingwater.com). I ordered the RO-45 and all I can say is "WOW!"

Here is just a short list of major observations that differentiate APEC from many of its competitors...

[1] APEC wet tests each system for 24 hours prior to shipping the unit to you. (Well, I know that I don't want my kitchen floor to be the testing bench!)

[2] The filters used are off highest quality and construction. Every Single Component (including the filter housings) are NSF / FDA certified. Each piece weighs substantially more than the cheap, knock-off versions. Remember, a little filter housing can be a BIG problem.

[3] Highest-purity water. My incoming water is 750 TDS. My post softener, pre-RO water is 675 TDS. My post-RO water is 7 TDS! I am still astonished by the results.

[4] I called customer service to inquire about the technicalities of upgrading my system t
o the RO-90. The staff was knowledgeable, efficient, courteous, and very professional. Knowing that I can get direct technical support and parts from them (the factory) really gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling. The way I see it, I'll be drinking the water from this system for many years to come, I want someone who can help me maintain and fix any problems I may have down the road. So another advise is to buy factory direct if you can. And beware of reseller websites who lack technical knowledge, and can't support/ service you later on.

Rather than go on, I encourage each you to thoroughly investigate (as I did) all your options, and then decide for yourself. I rarely write reviews, but this company / product really impresses me, so I want to share my experience with others.

My tap water comes out at 320ppm I live in houston tx mud #30 if you want to look up or request water specs. this unit cleans the water to 20-30 ppm never got lower than 20ppm. If I would of known it was going to be brown in 1 week of use I would of kept refilling my 5 gal jugs at walmart for 0.27 cents a gal...
here is the picture link incase you cant see it:

That must be one hell of a system that holds 250gal of water inside your house I'll stick to Adam's ale straight from the tap, might be slightly chlorine tasting occasionally but at least it tastes pretty good and a lot cleaner and fresher than either bottled water or home filtered water.
