The only thing is that I have to watch it when I am steaming something for more than 20 minutes as the water tend to evaporate quite quickly and if you do not fill up the water compartment, it can spoil the steamer. The other irritating thing is that the timer is quite fiddly. The three buttons that I can press go straight to 1 minute, 1 hour or 20 minutes. I have to adjust from there accordingly. The steamer does have a loud alarm though to tell you when th...more

I paid £24.99 for my Russell Hobbs Classic White Food Steamer early in 2007 and I would not be without it. It is very easy to use and simplicity itself to clean. I did wonder if it would become one of those gadgets that would be more trouble than it was worth and end up in the back of the cupboard, as these things usually do. However, the results are so good that it is well worth the little extra effort cleaning it afterwards. After all, whichever method you choose to cook, you still have the clearing up to do. The Russell Hobbs Classic is a nice-looking piece of kit for the kitchen; using it means I can cook vegetables in particular to perfection and none of ...  Read the complete review

My daughter has been going on about buying a steamer for ages and last week we went into Safeways and saw them on the shelf priced at £19.99. I was surprised at this price as I have seen them in Curry’s for £30 and every being the one for a bargain I decided to buy one. The first thing to do when you get your steamer home is to wash all the compartments as you never know how long it has been boxed and on the shelf. The steamer is made by Russell Hobbs a very well known brand name and comes with a twelve months guarantee. There is a plug already connected to the wire of the steamer so you don’t have to worry about wiring it up, there is an instruction ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Russell Hobbs Classic White Food Steamer: Full Steam Ahead (185 words)

This electric food steamer has 3 food baskets, a lid and a rice bowl. The three food baskets have enough room to cook for a family of four. It has a 1 hour timer, which bleeps when finished. The food cooked in a steamer is more healthy and tastes better than boiled food.Vegetables are left green and crisp, and fish can be flaked easily. Only fresh cold water should be used, and no seasonings can be used in the steamer and should be added to the cooked food after cooking. More time has to be added to cooking times if you fill the baskets, but once steaming has started you can carry on doing other things and not worry about it untill the timer sounds. You have to take care ...  Read the complete review

I bought my steamer about 4 months back. It comes with 3 food basket of varying sizes so you can stack them on top of each other. Each food basket is big enough for a medium size sea bass, and 10 chicken drumstick packed tight. The steamer does steam almost every kind of food, even cakes. My food has turned out consistently well. The only thing is that I have to watch it when I am steaming something for more than 20 minutes as the water tend to evaporate quite quickly and if you do not fill up the water compartment, it can spoil the steamer.
