Advantages: A cheap refuse bag from Sainsbury`s basic range

Disadvantages: Not man enough for some of the tough jobs

Sainbury`s basics, not an exactly mind blowing title for the range but very apt. I have recently started to explore the range of over 550 products and I don't think that I am the only one by any means.
Every time I wander around our large well stocked and spotlessly clean Sainsbury`s store there are countless people calculating the savings that they could make if they exchanged their brand named goods for basic products. For anyone who is deeply into packaging design they may find the stark orange and white almost retro theme a touch too much to bear.
Sainsbury`s are keen to point out that all of their basic food range is free from hydrogenated fats and flavour enhancers and they have introduced some household goods to the basic range too.

Nowadays there are only two of us to create rubbish so I am not constantly filling rubbish bags with endless heavy waste.
The refuse bags are plain and simple, the roll is secured with a white and orange paper wrapper, they don't have tie handles or drawstring tops but then are they really essential? The black bags separate reasonably easily using a perforated edge. It is easy to see that the black plastic isn't very thick but then again I have bought slightly more expensive refuse bags that have been vastly inferior with plastic that resembles tissue paper.
One thing that does concern me is that normal refuse bags I buy are made using `less oil based plastic` these basic range bags have no such statement written on the label.

Any carrier bag that comes through my front door always ends up being reused in our kitchen bin but now stores and supermarkets are rationing carrier bags my days of free bin liners are numbered.
I know that the Sainsbury`s black refuse bags aren't intended to line kitchen waste bins but if the bags represent good value that is good enough for me.
We tend to recycle our plastic, bottles and cans so the bag would only have to cope with the run of the mill kitchen waste. Vegetable peelings, food wrapping, so I am not asking too much from my bargain bags.
I don't know how you feel about leaving household rubbish in the kitchen overnight but I generally empty the bag after supper and then replace it with a clean bag to help keep the kitchen smelling fresh. So the Sainsbury`s black plastic bag has not undergone extensive testing but it has been filled with an average days household waste.
I pulled the bag away from the bin, all was fine. I lifted the bag and tied a knot in the top, all was fine ( That's the chorus-feel free to join in!), I walked out of the back door, and deposited the Sainsbury`s basic bag into my wheelie bin, and all was fine!! No leaks, splits or tumbling rubbish.

So taking into account that these black refuse bags only work out at just slightly over 2p each I think it would good to focus on what they are capable of instead of what they aren't!

The Sainsbury`s basic refuse bags are good for light duties, if you are looking for a fancy dress for Halloween then the bags are ideal! ( If the bag is for children adult supervision is essential)
Are you going to a promenade concert this summer? Look no further, the basics refuse bag makes an ideal Pack a Mac in case of a rainy evening. Fine for storing a small amount of garden waste but double bag if there is any weight at all involved.

For weighty refuse, builders rubble, heavy garden waste I am afraid that you will have to go upmarket and triple the amount you pay to get a bag that is capable. The bag may not be capable of storing waste for a large family with one of those fabulous Brabantia tower bins either. But on the other hand if you are looking for a run of the mill household bag then this is one for you.

Summary: A waste bag that will cope admirable with lighter tasks
