      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Not even worth the 30p!!

      INTRODUCTION
      --------------------
I am always looking for ways I can cut cost on everything. When I go shopping I often try the 'basics' or 'value' supermarket own brands and usually find them to be just as good as the proper, more expensive brands. There are always exceptions though.

I love bleach and use a lot of it everyday. I like my home , especially bathroom to smell like bleach, as to me, it feels and smells really clean. However, I do tend to use a lot of it, this can work out quite expensive!

I needed to stock up on some cleaning products. When I was out shopping in Sainsburys I noticed this bottle of Sainsburys thin bleach, basics range. Bleach is bleach (right?!) so i thought I would give it a try.

      PRICE
      ---------
The main reason I picked up and bought this bleach was the price. It cost me 30p for a large two litre bottle.

This is a huge saving compared to the price of some brands. Usually bleach can cost £1.50 - £2 per litre if you buy the big brands. This one works out at just 15p per litre.
      Absolute bargain.....or so I thought!!

      PACKAGING
      ---------------
The packaging is still the same as the dooyoo picture. I is a large white bottle with a handle on the side. The label is a very simple white and orange and very typical of the Sainsbury's Basics range.

The lid is red and has a safety cap on it so it is safe around children, although as with all cleaning products and chemicals it is recommended to be kept out of children's reach.

      USING
      ----------
So first of all I went to clean my toilet with the bleach I had just bought.
I opened the lid and was not hit by a sudden smell of bleach like I would have expected.
I went to pour some down the toilet. It was like water.........I know it says thin bleach but seriously?!
The bleach smell is there but faint. I was not at all happy with it. I guess that might not be too bad for most people but I like my bleach to smell like bleach so I know it's clean! As I mentioned earlier though, maybe I go a teeny bit overboard.

It felt to me like the toilet hadn't even been cleaned at all. You couldn't tell I had used any products at all.

      CONCLUSION
      -----------------
Overall I am not at all happy with this product.

The bleach was so thin and watery I was not at all happy with the finished result. To me it was just not 'bleachy' enough and definitely did not feel clean enough for me.

I definitely believe that often people pay far too much on branded products when the 'basics' or 'value' range is just as good. I have learnt though, that for some things, such as this bleach are just not good enough from the basics range and it's well worth paying a bit more to get decent quality.

Basic's you've let me down with this bleach!

      1 / 5 stars

      Thank you for reading

      xx Mrs K xx

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

OK for some tasks, I'll stick to thick bleach thanks :)

There are many times when I've wanted to economise a bit, and I've tried a basics or value brand just to see if I could make the switch to it full time. Sainsbury's Basics Thin Bleach was one of these experiments.

Sainsbury's Basics Thin Bleach is a huge saving on regular bleach. Branded bleach can be up to £1.98 for a litre bottle, and even the supermarket own brand is around 60p a bottle. I tend to go somewhere like Home Bargains or B&M where bleach is a very reasonable 39p for a litre, so I do make savings already. However, for 28p, so 11p cheaper than my already very cheap bleach source, you get 2 litres so twice as much Sainsbury's Basics Thin Bleach. But is it worth the saving?

For me.. a resounding no, unfortunately. There are two reasons behind this.

Firstly, the bleach is SO thin, that you use twice as much, because frankly, you need to. Meaning that even though you get twice as much you end up using it at exactly the same amount, which is a bit pointless really, especially considering you then have to transport twice the amount home.

Secondly, because the bleach is as thin as water, it's very easy to splash it, and when pouring some into my loo I managed to splash it onto my bathroom mat, ruining it. So I am somewhat annoyed that my 28p 'saving' has turned into a £7 spend on a replacement mat!

I'm sure there are some uses for Sainsbury's Basics Thin Bleach, possibly if you need a thin bleach for textiles or to clean in the garden or shed but for home use for me it's just a hassle with it being heavy, thin and easy to splash. I prefer a thick bleach for pence more, and I can't personally recommend Sainsbury's Basics Thin Bleach, even for 28p it just isn't something I'll be buying again or really can find many practical uses for around the house.

Not bad as bleach goes, does the job but - PLEASE can we have non-foaming Bleach! I remember a time when we did not have bleach that 'foamed' up everywhere! I don't know when it was introduced but it's a real pain in the back to clean with! - It takes 3 times as long because once you wiped everything down with it, you then have to go around and wipe off the foam. I'm sure it will cut down on environmental and production costs to take all the soap out of it because we've already got this in almost everyother cleaning product on the market and don't Need it in Bleach! How about making us some straight forward non-foaming bleach? Many Thanks and All the Best!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A great bleach especially for the tasks I want to do with it!

Another thing I always seem to have in my home is bleach. I like thin bleach that I use very often just to use in my mugs as I like drinking strong tea and to pour around and down my toilet at night and so for those jobs I always search out cheap bleach and then use more expensive and thicker bleaches for more serious tasks.

Sat just behind my toilet at the moment is a bottle of this bleach I bought last time I was in Sainsbury's with my mate who loves to shop there and its a shop I don't really go in and usually opt to shop in Tesco's or Asda as I find them cheaper and more local to me. However bored whilst she was shopping as I didn't really need anything I decided to look at their prices and I found myself looking at that 'Basics' range and I found this huge 2L bottle of bleach costing only 27p and to be honest I couldn't believe my eyes and so I bought it!

The packaging of this is simple. Its a white plastic large bottle with an integrated handle to one side of it and it has white and orange labeling and on the front of it we are simply told what it is and who it is by and on the back of it dosage advice is given along with the ingredients and warnings and contact details for Sainsbury's. Cheap looking packaging this is but it is an informative looking bottle and I do like the handle it has to it and its informative enough too.

      Using It:

Well this is a transparent liquid, slightly golden in colour and basically it smells as you'd expect any bleach to really. It isn't fragranced with anything to disguise the usual fragrance of bleach this one and there are dosage instructions clearly given on the back of the bottle of it.

Basically to use it you use a solution of 250ml bleach to 5 litres of water for large areas really such as floors and the likes. I do this for cleaning round things such as my bath and tiles though usually I do this job with disinfectant or a bathroom cleaner really. The way I use this the most is in mug with water and I do make a solution up to clean my worktops once a week and I pour it around my loo and into it usually nightly as I'm paranoid about a dirty toilet! I use it neat around my taps and do soak my white dirty dishclothes in it before washing them through in my washing machine in a solution of water and this overnight just to really keep them looking and feeling clean

      Overall:

This really helps give a clean feel to my home and gets my cloths up really back to white quickly. I trust it to kill germs as well and all in all I really do appreciate this one and think its a great quality product for an equally great price and its another Sainsbury's product I give a huge thumbs up to! Cleans, kills germs and is cheap...you can't do much better than that for this price!

      Only available from Sainsburys stores.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      wouldnt buy any other bleach

I always buy this bleach as it is such good value for money. You get a big bottle for about 29p and it goes a really long way to help you keep your home clean. The bleach is thin but you don't need a lot.

I use it in the toilet, just pour a small amount down each night before bed and it keeps the toilet bowl clean. You can put a little bit on a sponge then and give the rest of the toilet bowl a quick wipe but remember to rinse it off after.

This bleach is also good for the garden as I have a dog and like to clean up after it and wash down the yard. I sometimes pour a small bit down neat and sweep hard with the broom then dilute some with cold water and give the yard a better sweep. Keeps all the doggy smells away.

Another thing this is good for is putting down the sink at night to keep the plug hole smelling nice and clean. You can dilute some in warm water and use it to wash down your surfaces in the bathroom and kitchen too.

I don't see the need in buying expensive bleaches and cleaners when a bottle of this does most of the things for you.

A Fantastic Bottle Of Bleach From Sainsburys.

I like to live in a clean and tidy house and bleach is one of those items that gets used on an almost daily basis so when I see some for cheap, such as this thin bleach for just 28p (2 litre) I couldn't resist picking up a couple of bottles.

The bottle is indeed 'basic' and is a tall plastic bottle with a small handle making it easier to pick up. It has a safety cap (press down and twist to open) to stop small children or vulnerable adults from opening it. The bottle has a white label that is orange & white and has the usual safety information and what not on it as well as a barcode and general things.

This bleach is quite thin and easy to use. This can be used to clean & freshen the toilet as well as sink areas, worktops, floors etc and I generally pour this down the toilet neat whereas I dilute it before using it on lino floors. There are instructions on the bottle telling you how to dilute it.

This should never be used on any surfaces without a small, inconspicuous area being tested beforehand. Also, do not use this in baths with plugs made from plastic as prolonged contact may rot these away. Also, ensure that all traces are removed from the area that you have cleaned to avoid any damage happening.

While this bleach is not scented it's fantastic for the price paid and I probably use a couple of bottles throughout the month. There really is no reason not to use this and while it's classed as a 'thin' bleach it really is quite thick and is ideal for pouring down drains and it's as cheap as chips.

I am going to rate this bleach 4/5 as it's very good, works well, cleans things and is reasonably priced.

          SAINSBURYS BASICS THIN BLETCH

Sainsbury,s have a basic line of products, these are usually items that are good value for money and they come in a not so fancy rapping or bottle, and save you a lot of money.

I have just tried, Sainsbury,s basic bletch (thin) which only cost 27p for 2 litre bottle.

          The Bottle **********

This bletch which is the thin one, is in a white bottle with a safety cap than you have to push down and unscrew to get it off. But even though it has a safety lid, it is not recommended that you keep this product in reach of children. So does have a warning written on the side of the bottle.

It is useful to pour neat down your toilets every night just a little capfull will get rid of any unwanted stains, smells or germs.

It is also good for pouring neat down any outside drains.

It is also good to pour neat down wastepipes and then you need to rinse with cold water after a few minutes.

I like to use a little on a white dish cloth to wipe over my bathroom, and also i use mine to wipe over my kitchen worksurfaces too.

I also use this diluted in any of my whites that if they have been washed and still have residue stains in them need soaking.

But obviously you cannot use this product on woolens, silks, coloured, or any synthetic garments as this will make stains rather than remove them.

I like to use blethch as it wipes away a multitude of germs, and dirt stains that may build up, and also i like the smell it has, which is undiscribable, unless you want to compere it to a swimming pool smell, that has clorine in.

I usually buy the more expensive brands, but have found that this does the job just as good as the next, so will give it a four out of five, because it is thin and perhaps you will need to use a little bit more than usual but i liked it and it has saved a few pennies, so ill be buying it again.

Thanks for reading and rating my reviews. x.
