Advantages: price and comfort levels

Disadvantages: not good for mopping

Let's face it, using toilet paper is something that we all do every day, except the Queen. Goodness knows what she uses, maybe her corgis. I am always trying out new brands because I think the leading brands are too dear these days. I have already sampled Tesco's own version and a make called Springforce. Now onto the Sainsbury's version. A snip at forty two pence for four rolls. That to me says good value and it also puts the price in line with the other competitors.

The packaging is simple and effective, though if you are hard of seeing, you might mistake it for kitchen roll. A bigger illustration would have helped here. Easy to open, just tear the outer packet and you're away!

The softness of the toilet tissue is pretty good, with a sprightly bounce to the rolls. The quality of the paper itself is also pleasing and possibly a little better than the Springforce quaility, in that it does not tear as easily. The tissue is comfortable to use on personal areas and does not disintegrate in the hands which is very important.

There is no balm on the tissue like leading brands nor is there any scent. I always hanker after a toilet tissue embalmed with the smell of coconut, but I guess this would bump up the price. For your money you do get a sturdy tissue paper, it does not cut the skin like that nasty school loo paper and it also tears easily from the roll.

My quibble is that it is not the most absorbent tissue. If you try and mop up water then it will go a bit droopy and fall to bits, unlike some leading brands which stay intact for longer. My advise is to use this for bathroom activities and invest in kitchen roll for spillages. On reflection, I will get this roll again as it delivers on softness, longevity (two hundred sheets per roll) and price. As an interesting closer, it is rumoured that former Spice Girl Melanie C uses only one sheet of toilet paper per session. Maybe that is something we can all learn from in these tight economic times!

Summary: good value product
