Advantages: Easy to use bottle, quick drying and fragrance when first used

Disadvantages: Doesn't do anything at all!

I am a cleanaholic and I like everything when I've done a spot of cleaning to feel and look clean and fresh! In my bedroom though I have things I can't polish, wash or dust such as cushions that are not suitable for washing and stuff and I always feel a bit grubby about not being to clean them! So when I saw this product for 99p in Sainsbury's I first thought what a great idea and secondly was aware of how much cheaper it was than other offerings of leading brands on the market!

The Packaging....

50ml trigger action white plastic bottle with a stuck on label on the front of it which tells me in orange and blue writing that it is Sainsbury's Fabric Freshener 'With active odour neutraliser' and that it 'Eliminates odours from all fabrics'. On the back label I'm given directions for use and given safety instructions, I'm given the ingredients and contact details for Sainsbury's and finally the weight and bar-code are displayed. Very simple bottle to look at but provides all the information you need and is simple and straight-forward to use.

Directions For Use....

Turn nozzle to the ON position to use. Spray evenly from the distance 15-30cm until the fabric is slightly damp. Allow to dry. Odour will fade fast as item dries. Use more for difficult odours. Regular use will keep your fabrics smelling clean and revitalised. After use return the nozzle to the OFF position.

Me using It....

Well from the instructions I gather I can simply spray it anywhere I want to, to freshen up and so away I go! The liquid is clear, sprays out fast and has a sort of light cotton fresh aroma to it meaning it's sort of none distinctive in fragrance but it is pleasant enough and airy smelling. If you spray a little onto your hand it feels like a very light fabric conditioner mixed with water and is very soft.

So I sprayed it on my cushions which at the time were my priority, until they were slightly damp which took a few generous sprays. The cushions smelt gently of this fragrance for a few minutes and then the smell sort of got eaten up. I then expected my cushions to spring to life and ooze vitality...but they didn't at all in any way shape or form. They went back to not feeling so fresh almost immediately and the aroma they had prior to this being used had returned as well!

Undeterred though I sprayed my rug and a jacket before going out but the same thing happened as with the cushions. It was easy to use, dried in very quickly but any fresher for using it? Not in the long term no!

Verdict....

Do not use this on silk as it splatters and stains it with a greasy residue. I learnt this lesson to my detriment! This however is a light spray, dries fast and on use smells rather pleasant but useless in every way apart from that. The smell doesn't last and things don't feel fresher or cleaner for using it at all! Waste of money this one I'm afraid!

Only available in Sainsbury's stores in this 500ml size.

Summary: Don't bother!
