A bargain buy that is effective and well worth trying.

Review of Sainsbury's Basics Disinfectant Being on a tight budget has led me to try many of the supermarket own branded products over the past couple of years. Cheap household cleaning products are something that I have found a little hit and miss in the past, although I had read positive reviews of this product so it was with a few reservations that I decided to try this particular disinfectant. The overriding factor that prompted me to buy this was the price, 31p for a 1 litre bottle compared to over £2 for a branded disinfectant containing half the amount and the next up own brand product at £1.25. I figured that if I did not like it, I had not wasted too much money! **The Product** Presented in a recyclable clear plastic bottle with a screw top lid and a preformed handle, this disinfectant looks awful, I do not mean to be crude, but it looks for all the world like a bottle of urine! The colour is an orangey yellow shade and due to the clear container the contents are of course on display. The clear container does have its advantages as you can see exactly how much disinfectant you have left in the bottle. As with all 'Basics' products, the packaging is very plain and simple, there are no unique styling features or gizmos with this range, and indeed, who really needs them for something as mundane as disinfectant? All ingredients, instructions and warnings are on the reverse of the bottle and the front white paper label bears the product name and the strapline 'Disinfectant, still kills E.coli, Salmonella and Listeria'. This disinfectant can be used either neat or diluted. I tend to use it neat for cleaning the toilet bowl, plug holes, drains and similar areas. When diluted it works well on hard floors and for places such as the loo seat, flush handle and kitchen work surfaces. We own a dog that eats in the kitchen and I give the tray his food dishes stand on and the surrounding kitchen floor a wash with diluted disinfectant daily in order to maintain hygiene, for this purpose the Sainsbury's Basics disinfectant is ideal. The disinfectant dilutes easily as it is a thin liquid composition and it has a fresh, clean smell which I like from a product of this type. The scent is possibly not to everyone's taste as it is rather 'hospital-like' as opposed to the pine or floral fragrances found in other brands of disinfectant. As I am buying this for its disinfecting qualities and not the aroma, the lack of an attractive scent does not bother me in the slightest. **Warnings and Suggested Uses** The warnings Sainsbury's provide are pretty basic and common sense ones such as do not ingest, do not use on animals, store upright in a cool dry place. Keep out of direct sunlight. *Taken (in part) from the product label* Laundry Do not pour directly onto fabric. Add 166ml (6 capfuls) to 5 litres (1 in 30) of water for soaking. Test solution on a small area prior to use to check material is colourfast. Heavily soiled articles should be rinsed clean before being disinfected. Toilets, Drains & Sinks Pour undiluted disinfectant around the toilet bowl and down sinks and drains. Work Surfaces (E.g. Walls, floors, tiles and other washable surfaces) use a solution of 166ml (6 capfuls) per 5 litres (1 in 30) of water. Petcare, Bedding (etc.) DO NOT USE ON PETS. Use a solution of 166ml (6 capfuls) per 5 litres (1 in 30) of water. Rinse articles thoroughly and allow to dry before re-introducing the pet. All pretty standard advice from the manufacturer. I have to say that I have never used this for laundry purposes so I cannot comment on the effectiveness when used in this way. When used neat or diluted I have found the disinfectant very efficient. **My Thoughts and Conclusion** I am aware that some people disapprove of 'cheap' products being put up for review on paying review sites and I do appreciate that the initial reward I will earn from Dooyoo is probably more than this product cost me to buy! However, personally I have no problems with reviews of this type as I have discovered many things through reading reviews such as this one that I may previously have been unaware of or disregarded when shopping simply because they are cheap! I have found this disinfectant to be efficient and remarkably good value for money. It is definitely a basic product in that there are no added frills or fancy scents. I have been pleased with the results from the disinfectant and will continue to buy this for general disinfecting jobs around my home. The product works well leaving a clean aroma and a streak free finish on hard surfaces. The cost is minimal, so as far as I am concerned that has to be a bonus! I have no qualms at all in awarding this disinfectant a 5* rating and I recommend it to others. Thank you for reading. ©brittle1906 March 2013 N.B. My reviews may be found on other sites under the same user name. **UPDATE September 2013** Sainsburys have recently lowered the price on this product to just 30p in my local branch. What a bargain!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

I don't know if it kills germs I'm no scientist but I'm sure it does and it cleans!

One of the things I always have in my cupboard in my home is some disinfectant. Its something that I like the fragrance of and the peace of mind it gives me. I own four lovely hamsters and a kitten all of which make a mess and create havoc in my home! I'm not a clean and tidy freak I am the first to admit that but like today I get fed up and I blitz my flat back to gleaming so they can all start making it mucky once again lol. I bought this last time I was in Sainsbury's, not a store I usually shop in to be honest but I was in there with a mate who does do her weekly shop in there so I got mooching about at what I considered to be their bargains and I ended up buying this which cost me the small price of 31p for a whole 1L of it which I was very impressed with indeed! The packaging of this is simple with white and orange labeling and a screw top lid to the top of it and on the front of it we are clearly told what it is and who it is by then on the back of it the ingredients are given and usage advice plus contact details for Sainsbury's. There is a handy handle to the side of it integrated into the bottle and all in all for a budget bottle of disinfectant it is robust and informative enough and so on. The Disinfectant Itself: This is golden yellow transparent colour and basically it smells like disinfectant meaning it isn't perfumed to smell anything different than that, just fresh and clean really and I like it. This is meant to kill 99.9% of germs including E.coli, Salmonella and Listeria and using itis simple and basically you can use it anywhere you want to clean, freshen up and kill germs from....and I certainly do, do that and go to town when I'm using it. The dosage advice on the back of the bottle tells us how to make a mixture up with water and for floors and tiles I use about 6 capfuls to 5 litres of water...give or take a bit. The smell is great and with floors I sweep them first of course then mop over them with this, tiles and doors I dampen the cloth with the solution and use. For toilets, the bath, sinks, over cupboards and around door handles etc I use this neat on a clean cloth just for extra peace of mind. You can use this in washing as well if you want to though I have to admit I don't as I don't much fancy my washing stinking to high heaven of this! Not only is this a great cleaning solution that leaves a nice ungreasy sheen on things I do trust that it kills alot of germs and it gives me that clean feeling in my home which is a bonus. The fragrance of this lingers in my home quite strongly too for a good few hours and all in all I rather like this and can't believe its so cheap to buy such a big bottle of it! In short this is a great bargain product from Sainsbury's and it gets a big thumbs up from me, my home and my messy and mucky pets! Only available from Sainsburys stores. Advantages

        Disadvantages

Disinfectant that works well for a variety of purposes.

When it comes to my home I like to be sure that I am doing everything that I can to keep my surfaces and the occupants of my home healthy. I like to use disinfectant on my floors once a week, or more often depending on what has been on my floors. For example, if my cat has been unwell then I like to ensure that I disinfect the floors to a) ensure she doesn't smell sick any more and b) ensure that any germs are removed before they potentially make her sick again. Disinfectant is one of those products that I will buy a cheap brand of. As long as it is good at disinfecting my floors and is simple to mix for easy application then I will buy it and this particular bottle is 31p for a 1 litre bottle. The packaging of this disinfectant is very simple. It is a plastic bottle with the basics packaging on it and a screw top lid. There is a handle on the side of the bottle and the lid can be used as a measuring cap, which is what I do. In all the packaging is basic but effective and I can just store this under my kitchen sink with no problem at all. The cap on this is child proof too meaning you need to depress it on two sides and then twist it to remove it. I find products with child proof caps to be really useful as it means that I do not have to worry about my nieces or nephews potentially seriously injuring themselves if I just happen to leave a bottle lying around where I'm not used to having to think about little people every day. This disinfectant isn't fragranced and just smells like the standard disinfectant smell. This reminds me somewhat of a hospital but it also makes me think of clean, hygienic and safe surfaces. Now I use this disinfectant for my floors, as I said above, and I use 6 capfuls to every 30 litres of water. Now I don't specifically measure out 30 litres but I do use a large mop bucket and I add the 6 capfuls to this. Potentially my solution is a little stronger than recommended but I've not had any problems at all with my skin being irritated or anything like that. This solution is very simple to mix up and I find it a breeze for cleaning my floors with. I use a traditional mop and bucket for this and it is normally the only time I use a mop on my floors (preferring to stick to a power mop). This disinfectant cuts through any dirt or marks on my floor and lifts them with ease. My floor dries without any streaks after using this too and the smell of disinfectant only lingers in the air for an hour or two as well. This is good as it can be a little bit much after a couple of hours and while I like my home to smell like I've cleaned it I don't want it to smell like a hospital when guests come over! This disinfectant doesn't seem to be any worse performing than any other. It cleans my floors and as far as I know it kills germs too. I like the reassurance that using it provides me with and I will definitely continue to buy a basic or value disinfectant in the future as long as it performs as well as Dettol and the likes. Should you want to use this disinfectant for your floor remember that you can use it for a wide variety of other purposes too such as after operations and other things such as in your bath and for soaking clothing too.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Not worth paying more for a branded version.

I usually buy my cleaning supplies in shops such as Poundland and Poundworld, because they have a good choice of branded products available and at a hefty discount too. When I saw that Sainsburys offer a number of disinfectants and cleaners in their Basics range for far less than £1, I was keen to see whether they were worth buying. It was the own-label Basics disinfectant that first caught my eye, as it is just 31p for a litre. I use this kind of product in circumstances where it is hard to use a spray disinfectant such as in a toilet bowl. It is also better value for money than ready-to-use products if you think you will need to use quite a bit, for example when cleaning drains. The product comes in a basic plastic bottle with a child proof cap. You need to both squeeze and twist the lid to gain access to the liquid, which is not very easy to do if like my mum you have joint problems. I don't have too much trouble opening the lid myself, and I do understand that for the sake of those with children, opening can't be made too easy. The bottle is as simple as you would expect for an own label product, which does not bother me at all, as it is something that is purely functional in my eyes. It is clear, so you can easily see how much you have used up. There is a helpful moulded handle which is easy to grip. It can be difficult to pour larger bottles like this, so a proper handle is a big advantage. I do not want to spill something that I need to measure carefully. It smells the same as other disinfectants, a "hospital" type smell which seems to me to have a citrusy element too. It smells no worse than branded disinfectants that I have tried. In fact, I would rate it as relatively mild compared to some, especially once diluted. I always use it in a room with the windows wide open, but even so I do not think it's scent is especially lingering. Like most similar products, this needs to be diluted prior to use in most cases. The measurements are the same whether you are using the product for cleaning surfaces, pets accessories, or mopping the floor which makes it easy to remember after a few uses. The cap is used for measuring and you need 6 per 5 litres of water. I have used it chiefly for cleaning floors in the bathroom and kitchen, as well as tiled surfaces in an outbuilding. I have always been happy with the result. Whilst I can't see whether germs are being killed or not, I like the fact the disinfectant is quick to make up, and easy to use. There is no residue left after cleaning, and no streaking on the tiles or surfaces. I also use this to wash out our wheelie bins, especially the one that takes food waste that can't be composted. Since I began doing this regularly, I have noticed a sharp reduction in the number of flies and maggots that can be seen. Lastly, I pour it undiluted into the toilet bowl overnight, as an added precaution if a family member has a sickness bug. It doesn't leave any stains in the toilet bowl. I have not tried using the product on laundry, but should you need to there are clear instructions on the bottle. All in all it is a versatile product, and one that earns it's keep under my sink. I was impressed to see that label claims this disinfectant kills 99.9% of germs, including E.Coli, listeria and salmonella. When I used to see a statement like this on a branded product, I thought it was due to the particular "recipe" the brand had developed. This has been an eye opener for me! I would recommend that anyone gives this a try. I can't think of anything that a more expensive product has done for me that this one hasn't. It is great value, and I will continue to buy it in preference to any brands offering. [This review also appears on Ciao, under my user name.]

        GOOD BASIC DISINFECTANT

I have recently tried out the Sainsbury's Basics Disinfectant and this is my review. I have tried out a lot of the items in the Sainsbury's Basics range and I have thought that some of them are very good items that are great value but other items are a bit to basic for me and I would not buy them again. All of the items in the Sainsbury's Basics range have very basic packaging but this does not bother me to much as I am more interested in whether the product is any good or not. The Sainsbury's Basics Disinfectant is in a very large bottle and it is a great 1litre size. The bottle only costs me around 30 pence which I think is very good value for money. I have often paid more money for a smaller sized bottle of disinfectant so I was pleased to give the Sainsbury's Basics Disinfectant a try out. The bottle is made of plastic and so when it is empty it can be recycled which is good for me cos I like to do my bit for the environment. I always wash the bottle out very well before it goes for recycling. There is a plastic lid on top of the large bottle. The packaging is very plain and the white label with the plain orange Sainsbury's Basics design on it is very plain to but this does not bother me to much and I am more bothered about whether the product is any good rather than what packet it comes in. The Sainsbury's Basics disinfectant is a brown colour. The liquid is runny and thin but this is the way that disinfectant should be and it looks like most other disinfectants I have bought before so there is nothing standing out to me that this Basic product is any different from what I would normally use. I use disinfectant around the house and it is something I use often to do my house hold chores. I have used the Sainsbury's Basics disinfectant in place of the bottle I would normally have and I did not notice any big difference between the cheap Basics product and another brand of disinfectant. I use disinfectant to clean the toilet bowl and I think it works very well at this job. It smells very strong when I am using it but this is something I am used to with all types of disinfectant as it is full of strong chemicals. The toilet bowl is left gleaming after I have used the Sainsbury's Disinfectant and I am very pleased. I have also used the Basics Disinfectant outside to clean my outdoor step. I added a capful to my bucket of boiling water and used it to scrub my outdoor steps and they came up lovely and clean. There is a strong smell left behind after the Disinfectant has been used but this does not bother me to much and it is quite a fresh smell although it is strong. The large bottle of Sainsbury's Disinfectant lasts me quite a good amount of time and it does not run out to quick which I am pleased about. I do not need to use any more of the Sainsbury's Basics disinfectant just because it is cheaper and the bottle has lasted quite a long time. I would suggest giving the Sainsbury's Basics Disinfectant a try out and I think it is a very good value product and it cleans perfectly when I am doing my house hold chores.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

There really is no need to pay more than 32p

Having two dogs and two childrens around the place I am fanatical about trying to keep things clean. I have been trying some of Sainsbury's basics range to see how they compare with the Asda Smartprice and Tesco value ranges and this was one of the products I ordered on a recent home delivery. The product costs 32p for a bottle and bottle holds a litre of product so it is fantastic value, the bottle is made of a sturdy plastic and is transparent allowing you to see the dark yellow liquid inside. On the bottle there is a white label displaying the Sainsbury's basics name on the orange and yellow logo and the name of the product in orange. The bottle has handle to one side making it easy to pour the product and it has a white screw top cap on it which is child proof which I think is great as I wouldn't have expected it on a basic product but something I really need in my house as I haven't got eyes in the back of my head! On opening the bottle there is a flowery smell to the liquid but not a sickly smell but actually quite nice. The main thing I use this product floor is my kitchen floor and benches, my youngest is getting everywhere now and I want to sure there is no germs from the dogs where she goes. I do some of the more smell jobs with this product such as to pour down my outside drain which for some reason gets a little smelly every now and again, I also use it to swill around the wheelie bin every month or so and for all it never manages to make it smell great it certainly prevents it getting any worse. I like to use this down the toilet also to prevent any germs lurking as my eldest daughter takes herself to the toilet now and I like to know the bathroom is a safe place for her to be without it harbouring any bugs. It is claimed on the bottle that the product kills E. coli, Listeria and Salmonella which give me confidence that I am keeping my home at a low germ level for my daughters. The bottle advises you that this product needs to be kept away from children, mustn't be mixed with other chemicals and should be kept away from eyes and skin so this needs to be kept in mind. The bottle lasts for ages and I am only onto my second bottle of the product, it cleans well and makes things smell nice and fresh. The smell lasts for quite a while after using the product which I like as I hate it when you have just spent ages cleaning and you cannot smell that your house is clean. The product can be a bit of a pain to pour when it is a full bottle and find that it pours quite quickly so that is something to watch out for. How can you go wrong for 32p, fantastic product.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Good value for money.

We have been recently doing a good depth clean as we are having some visitors coming to visit us at the weekend and they are a little nosey ones and they tend to be the kind that go away and talk about how clean a home is lol, they are some friends we met some years ago while on holiday and we have kept in touch, they are nice people but give their opinion on other peoples homes they have been too and I am sure they would say the same about ours and so my wife insists the home is cleaned from top to bottom, just in case they find a speck of dust somewhere lol. We spotted this disinfectant from Sainsbury's and it was priced at only 27p for a litre bottle, the bottle is a very nice sturdy, transparent plastic one, it is very thick and it has a handle at the side and the handle is quite a good size and my large hands fit into it nicely. The liquid is a tangerine colour and the bottle has a screw off top, which is child proof, which is brilliant for anyone with small children in the home, when the top is removed, the smell of the disinfectant is a nice pleasant smell, it has a slight fragrance to it and it does not smell of old smelly toilets, like some disinfectants do, this one is a nice one and I use it to pour down my sinks, to refresh them and I also pour some in my outside drains to clear any smells that may be lingering. It can be used for laundry, but it must not be poured over fabrics, it must be diluted with 6 capfuls to every 5 litres of water, so it does not ruin the fabrics. I pour it as I said earlier down my sinks, it clears some of the smells, that some small particles of food may be down in the sink plug hole, as sometimes they can tend to stick to the sides of the pipes and this clears it nicely, to leave them smelling nice and fresh. It is good for any washable surfaces, and I used some diluted in water, to wipe down my tiles in the bathroom and it removed some marks and after use, the bathroom was smelling nice and fresh, and the tiles were clean, I also then just buffed them with a dry cloth and the job was done. My wife used some in a bucket and wiped the laminate flooring in the porch, and it cleaned the floor nicely, and because of the pleasant smell, when she re entered it, the smell was apparent straight away, which is good, because we are going to clean this area before our guests arrive, so they have no complaints on arrival lol. It kills E.coli, Listeria and Salmonella and the anti bacterial disinfectant is good for all around the home in the areas, you may think that germs are lurking. I really do like this one and for the cheap price, it is excellent value for money and worth every penny and I recommend it for anyone to try as I think it is a very good product and I will be buying it again because the size of the bottle is a good one and it lasts a very long time and has so many uses, and why pay more if a cheaper one works. I rate it 5 stars.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            A great basic product

I usually take the easy option when cleaning and use convenience products such as wipes and sprays, but decided recently to try to save a little money by trying out more basic brands. This disinfectant costs 30p in my local Sainsburys but I have also seen it on sale for 28p, and for that price you can't really go too far wrong in my opinion. I snapped up a bottle in my most recent spending spree and was pleasantly surprised... The bottle is basic in its design, with a sturdy plastic container housing the bright orange fluid. It is easily recognisable as being from the 'basics' range due to its familiar red and white label. The blurb states that this product kills nasties such as E-Coli, Listeria and Salmonella, and can be used neat on drains and toilets, or diluted on surfaces and floors. As the bottle does not have a childproof lock, I have been keeping it in a locked cupboard out of reach of my curious 18-month old daughter! On opening, this cleaning product has a clinical and familiar smell. It smells reassuringly of a strong disinfectant, which I quite like in a comforting, 'does the job' kind of way. I have used this product to clean surfaces and floors as well as toys and the highchair and have found it excellent. It works just as well as any leading brand I have used in the past. It is, however, messier to use than sprays or wipes and is more prone to spills but that's to be expected and the price more than justifies a bit of extra care and effort on my part. I have found that I need quite a lot of product but so far I have been using it diluted so it is lasting me well. Will I be buying this disinfectant again? Yes most certainly!

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Disinectant

Sainsburys basics disinfectant I like to have disinfectant in the house so that when I clean everything smells and feels really clean, but find some of the products are a ridiculously high price. I was doing my usual shop when I came upon this and having been happy with a lot of the basics products in the past decided this could be just the job WHAT'S IT FOR?... The disinfectant is what it says, an antibacterial disinfectant which kills E-coli, Salmonella and Listeria and is for use all around the home. It can be used on laundryby pouring it directly onto the fabric, toilets drains and sinks (used undiluted), work surfaces (diluted). PRODUCT AND PACKAGING... The product comes in a 1 litre plastic bottle with all of the instructions on the back and a rather handy little carry handle, so it can be carried easily round the house. The liquid inside looks a light orange colour and when I unscrew the screw on/off lid, there is a very strong disinfectant smell. I did expect this and this being a disinfectant I would have been quite disappointed had the smell been any different. The bottle can be recycled especially now we have our new blue bin which is a plus as I used to hate having to just throw away plastic bottles. WARNINGS... This is a cleaning product and so users should be careful! * Keep away from children. The screw cap is not especially child proof although it does have those press in bits at the side which I think most children could get into * Do not mix with other chemicals * Avoid contact with eyes and skin PRICE AND AVAILABILITY... Available instore or online at www.sainsburys.co.uk, this costs 29p for 1 litre of the stuff which represents tremendous value. VERDICT... A great value disinfectant which I have used for all the purposes listed apart from the laundry and also on my floors when I want to give them a really hygienic clean. The product makes the house smell really clean and fresh and I actually like the disinfectant smell. A plus point is that when it is used on work surfaces, it doesn't have to be rinsed off so I tend to dilute it in a bowl and then clean the surfaces as I would clean them with a spray cleaner. Not sure about the claims of killing all the nasty little bugs as I can't see them but rather take the word of the blurb! A little of the product goes a long way and for 29p I can use it quite liberally. Recommended for general household cleaning and cleanliness Thanks for reading Daniela x

              Disadvantages

              Good quality and price.

I am trying to save money in areas where I think I can recently so that I can still enjoy the finer things in life such as buy things for my little grandson and go out and go on holiday too, and I am buying more lower brands to see if I like them or not, because I have been amazed how good the lower brands actually can be, once tried them and I wished I had bought them well before now. I saw this anti bacterial disinfectant while shopping at Sainsbury's and I thought I would give it a try as it was only 27p for a 1 litre bottle and although the bottle is just plastic with no frills label it was an amazingly good price in my opinion to give it a try. The bottle is a thick transparent plastic and it has a nice sized handle to grip at the side of the bottle and it has a screw off lid, inside it is an orange colours liquid, it is thin and it has a nice pleasant smell to it, it is quite a strong smell but quite a nice smell, I thought it would smell disgusting but I was amazed how nice it was for the price. I found the lid quite hard to turn when I first opened it but that was probably because it is a safety feature for the protection of young children and so it does not turn when in the shopping basket or bags to take home, which is good because I have found in the past some bottle tops open sometimes in transit but this one is perfectly fine, once opened for the first time it was perfectly fine to open, although it must still be placed out of reach of small children but that is just common sense in my opinion. I found it worked a treat in my sinks and drains and left my sinks smelling nice and fresh. This can be used for laundry purposes for soaking, although I have not used it for this purpose but it says on the bottle it can be used and is safe but it must not be poured directly onto fabrics and to just use 6 capfuls to 5 litres of water and soak the fabrics that way. It can be also used for toilets, drains and sinks, all that is needed is to pour undiluted around the rim of the toilet and down the sink hole and I used this around my toilet bowl and left it for an hour and it freshened it perfectly and I also pours some neat down my sinks and just left it and the smell was pleasant and it worked a treat and it can be used diluted for kitchen work tops too and rinsed and it kills E-coli, Salmonella and Listeria. I diluted 6 capfuls into 5 litres of warm water and wiped my bathroom tiles and I also have used it to clean my kitchen floor and bin and also for cleaning door handles where all those nasty germs lurk. I have used it on my grandsons highchair tray and then rinsed it thoroughly and then wiped it dry with a little kitchen roll and it was nice and clean for when he used it next. What I really did like about the bottle is the handle as it is very easy to grip and for anyone like who cannot hold a bottle too well as I cannot often, I think this one is a very easy one to hold and I had no problems with it. I always wipe his plastic toys as they tend to hold the germs and I just do the same and dry them and they are lovely and clean for his next visit. This is an amazing product for the very cheap price and the quality is a very good one and I will buy it again to save me some money as I was very pleased with the results it gave. I give it 5 stars. Thank you for reading my review.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

I usually always have some in my cupboard apart from this week I hadn't realised I'd run out.

Ok I popped into sainsbury's last night to get some more lime crusha milk flavour which they didn't stock lol. I came out with yoghurt, disinfectant and oatmeal cookies. I did actually need the disinfectant as when I was opening the rubbish bins this week to check which peoples bins needed moving to right area for collection, two of the bins contents were moving, not nice. I've now used this Sainsburys disinfectant to give my own bin a clean and freshen up. To be honest I can't tell the difference between this cheap one and a not so cheap one. They work as well. This 1 litre bottle costs just 29p. It comes in a clear bottle and like the make being basic it is totally basic with no fancy labeling. A white label states what it is no pictures or fancy writing. Always make sure this type of product is kept away from children especially as this looks like apple juice as is the same colour. Disinfectant is used to clean and sanitise all different areas of the home. This is a antibacterial one. It can destroy many bugs and germs that can't been seen by the naked eye like e coli listeria and salmonella. some types like Dettol can be used to clean wounds & cuts too. This particular one I mixed with water about 1 part disinfectant to 3 parts water which is best hot or warm. Unlike Bleach this does not leave white patches on clothing is splashed or spilled. Disinfectant has a distinctive smell which is something I'm not good at reviewing as in previous reviews. How do you describe a smell? You can get pine disinfectant which obviously has a hint of pine but this plain one is just like any other disinfectants. It's a clean smell and I think it's a nice fresh smell unlike strong bleach. I used this for cleaning out the bin and I can now smell it when go to put rubbish in it. I also will use this for putting down drains, cleaning floors or deep cleaning like doing skirting boards or places that aren't done weekly. I should think this would be handy to use with pets in the home too.
