A fantastic washing liquid from Sainsburys.

I'm quite an avid fan of 'trying something new', particularly if it will save me some money in the long run. While in Sainsburys I spotted this 'super concentrated' liquid, there were two available the non-bio and the coloured version. With the price of the non-bio and the coloured version being the same, £2.55 for 735ml, I decided to give the coloured version a try. Usually I just stick to using a standard non-bio and as long as the price is right I will try almost anything when washing my clothes.

This product comes provided in a plastic bottle with a purple design to the bottle label and a purple lid. The lid also measures up as a measuring cap and the purple theme is continued throughout the product which was quite snazzy! This bottle will provide 21 washes and I have been using the full one capful to every almost full machine load of washing as we have hard water and I have been finding that washing liquids have not been being as effective recently and our washing has been ending up smelling a little bit dirty after two washes.

This liquid works very well in my machine, it works well with our hard water and ensures that there is a nice ample supply of bubbles in the machine while it's going round. I have mainly been using this with a 40C wash, which I've begun using more since the smelly washing occasions, and it works very well, also, I have used this once or twice on a quick wash and with a cold wash also with pleasing results. Regardless of whether I'm washing a coloured load or a white load I have still been using this liquid and I've been very satisfied with the results. There is quite a strong, heady, floral kind of scent to this liquid that I find attaches itself to our clothes very well. It's the sort of smell that lingers on for a good few hours after I've put an item of clothing on and it's lovely and just the kind of washing scent I love, one that makes me know I look and smell nice all day! This liquid is fantastic at removing dirt, no matter what it is, and it's easily got lots of stains out of our work clothes and from my cooking apron & oven gloves.

I've been very pleased with the quality of this liquid, it works well at removing stains, regardless of what they are, it leaves a lovely floral scent on our clothes and it keeps our colours looking lovely and bright. I have been looking out for this on special offer and it doesn't seem to go on offer as frequently as other washing liquids. That's a bit of a shame really as I love getting myself a bargain but then at £2.55 for 21 washes it's not far over the 10p per wash guideline I like to try and stick to for a true bargain to be had. If you are in the market for a new washing liquid that works well with hard water and will leave your clothes looking and smelling fresh then why not give this one a go?

        A brilliant own-brand detergent

I've always been pretty fussy when it comes to certain things for my household, and there are certain household products which I will pay a bit extra for because I believe them to be the best, and I don't want to compromise on quality. One such product is my laundry washing liquid, I have always used Persil as thats what my mum uses, and I was pretty adamant I would always stick to the tried and tested make of Persil. But when I saw this Sainsburys own brand concentrated liquid for just £1.99 on special offer, I couldn't resist the bargain price, and thought it would be worth a go.

This product is called Sainsburys Super Concentrated Liquid, and is the 'colour' variety, which means it help to keep colours bright and fresh in your clothing, and to help avoid fade on your clothes. The packaging is simple but does the job, a white plastic bottle which purple writing and a plastic measuring cap, which follows the colours of bigger names like Persil who also use the colour purple on their colour products. The bottle contains 735ml of washing liquid, which they say is suitable for around 20 washes.

Probably the first thing (aside from the price of course) that attracted me to buying this product was its smell. Usually, detergents don't really smell overly nice and I have to add lots of fabric conditioner to get a nice fragrance on our clothes, but when I unscrewed the cap to have a sniff, I was really surprised with the lovely smell that came out! It was quite floral, and pretty strong but in a really good way. That sold it to me, and I popped the bottle into my trolley. I needed to do a wash as soon as I got home so I thought it was a good time to try this product out. I did a medium sized wash, but decided to use a capful of the detergent because we have quite hard water and it can take a lot to get a good lather going in the machine. As always with these products, it works best when put into the drawer of your washing machine.

So I left the machine to do its thing, and an hour later I went to collect my newly washed washing. As soon as I opened the machine door, that lovely smell hit me again, a bit more diluted this time but still definitely there. The wet clothes really were infused with this smell, they smelt so clean and fresh, I loved it! I hung it all up on my airers in my bedroom and after just a few minutes, the room was filled with the fragrance too, which was really good as I adore the smell. Even after airing and ironing the smell lingers, and it really does smell so clean and fresh to me, I have stopped using fabric softener because I dont' want to mask this smell!

Now to the important bit - does it actually work? Well, yes I have to say it does! None of the clothes I wash are too dirty, Harry's is the worst with lots of food stains on it from tomato sauce to mayonnaise, and a lot of mud in this weather too! Yet no stain has proved too tough for this product, and everything has come out stain free! I managed to spill tomato sauce on a silver cotton top the other day and thought it was ruined which upset me, but after a hot rinse and wash with this product, the stain has come out, and for that this product deserves 5 stars alone! As well as leaving the clothes smelling nice and stain free, they are really nice and soft as well. I definitely don't need to add any softeners to the wash, all of Harry's clothes come up lovely, and when they've been in the airing cupboard for a few hours, the heat activates the smell again and it is soft and lovely!

This product is excellent value for money, as it retails at £2.68 for 735ml of concentrated gel, whereas you would be looking at paying £3.98 for the Persil equivalent, so thats £1.30 a time you'll be saving on your shopping, and it soon adds up! The recommended dose on the bottle does the job to be honest, you don't need gallons of it to make it work which is what worries me about buying cheaper products, but this seems to be a real working detergent at a superb price. The smell is lovely, it gets rid of stains, and its cheap - what more could you ask for?! This is definitely going to be my detergent of choice from now on, and I hope I've convinced you to at least give it a try!

        Available in Sainsburys Supermarkets.

Great idea for a smaller family

These days it is not just your pocket you should be worried about, but also the environment, and this Sainsbury's Super Conecentrated Liquid Colour Laundry detergent, will look after both! This is part of the range of laundry detergent Sainsbury's brought out in answer to the other famous brand that reduced its laundry detergent to a small bottle, in a super concentrated formula. It is supposed to help save the environment as it is in a small bottle, which means less truck loads up and own the roads of the country.

This retails at £2.68 for 735ml, which works out at only 36.5p/100ml. There is 21 washes in a bottle, which is about 13p a wash, so it is really good value.

It comes in a soft purple plastic bottle, and has a measurer in the cap. The smell is quite soft, and fresh. I found it gives a good clean to your washing, and I used it to wash a new pair of black cotton trousers withit, and I was impressed to see that the colour did no appear faded after the wash.

I like this product, but for me it was a bit irritating that it only gave so few washes. I do a lot of washing, and dont fancy going to the shop to buy detergent every few days, but I guess a bigger pack would defeat the whole environmentally friendly purpose? In my opinion great if you are single, but maybe not for a family.
